Hey guys,
When I start my Euro and put it in reverse it feel's like the accelerator has been pushed automatically..
Hard to explain but it seems it's reversing for me and all I need to do is put my foot on the brake.
Is this normal? Or is something wrong? The engine rev's just over 2000 so dunno if that's normal or not when you just start it.
Cheers

is this 1st thing in the morning ? IE when the engine is cold and just warming up ?

thinking the same thing as Aaron, my euro revs alittel higher in the monrings or night when the engine is cold, and yeh when u put it into reverse it is more eager to go then usual, i dont think its anything unusual, just the engine warming up, i do think the euro engine warms up pretty quickly compared to my previous cars.

Yeah it's just when I first start the car in the morning or arvo when I go to work, Haven't tried it any other time yet. I heard the engine rev's when the ECU resets it's self, wasn't sure if it could be that.

My revs have a mind of its own as well, when the engine is warming up and I reverse while the clutch is pushed in, it will momentarily go from say 2000rpm to 2300rpm, then back again after a second, then stay at 2000rpm until changing into 1st.

Same thing happens when the engine is warm and idling, after a few seconds it goes from 650rpm to 900rpm, then back down to 650rpm for the rest of the idle.

It seems like the ECU may be doing something in terms of emissions

very normal. more revs (within reason of course <~2K) mean the engine warms up quicker and not as easy to stall on start-up.

Yea mine does the same, seems to be more noticeable lately
In the morning, or when its started cold, settles down after about 2 mins

It's normal when you first start up the car cold....
I've seen and heard a Diablo start up at 2500RPM cold..
My mate's Ferrari does the same thing as well...

^^lmao... jst let ur engine idle for <1min before any driving occurs when cold... den for next 5-10mins or until normal temp is reached...drive under 3000 :)

lol my Civic used to cold start at 3000rpm, FITV needed adjusting.

but yeah off course the Euro keeps the revs at 2000rpm+ to warm up the engine. What Delta-one is talking about is the RPM increasing above 2000rpm when the car is put into reverse (i think lol).

lol Yeah, can't really explain, I start the car up (doesn't matter when or where, just tried it out and about today) and it rev's to just over 2000rpm, put it into reverse and it just wants to go, then I reverse and put it into drive and it wants to fly again, then after a few seconds it settles down..so must be warming up?

It's an auto btw.

My Manual does the same thing, so it souds like the ECU is programmed to increase the RPM in certain situations

100% normal. When the engine is cold, ECU opens up the throttle so that you have more revs to get the engine warmed up quicker. Being an auto, that means like you're having partial accelerator all the time.

Depends on how cold the coolant is I think.

It's not really cold in Darwin with mornings at the moment starting at 26 degrees. My Euro's engine has a high idle when started from "cold" so it must be normal and probably part of the process of getting the engine warm and the catalytic converter to working temperature as fast as possible.
