Hey guys i just wanted to know if anyone with a catback system finds that their exhaust hits the underside of the car and causes serious vibration when taking off hard at the lights. I mean like bulding the revs and then dumping the clutch...it only happens when i do this.
Also a while ago i mentioned that had a weird knocking sound coming from the front of my car when i took off. Mechanic said its not diveline issue or gearbox or engine mounts. The car does have king springs so could that cause the noise? Dont know what else it could be.
Any help to clarify these issueswould b great
Cheers!

if your catback is hitting the undercarriage then it'll be you engine mounts. although this doesn't usually occur until installing a HD clutch or aftermarket headers.

i'd say your mounts are shot. its hard to tell the condition of your engine mounts just by visual inspection.

Thats really weird coz i just got my mechanic to check them thoroughly and he said that they were fine.

They are usually fine until you give it a hard launch, especially in 1st and 2nd gear. Thats when there is most torque.

Do the cheap fix and sikaflex the rear mount and all the tramping and thumping will go away! But you will get a slight increase in engine vibration......or just get aftermarket ones! But they do cost between 500 - 1000.

The standard exhaust can be made to hit the floor too..
Don't bother trying to blame aftermarket products.
Fix is to use better mounts & or torque damper.
Down side is vibration...
If you don't like vibration, too bad I guess...
