Hi all,

Currently considering either a current model Civic Type R or a Integra Type S and would like to hear other's opinion and experience with both cars.

Both are great handling cars with similar power/torque figures,

ITS - Power: 154kW @ 7400rpm
Torque: 194Nm @ 7000rpm

CTR - Power: 148kW @ 7800rpm
Torque: 193Nm @ 5600rpm

Would the ITS handle better since its rear suspension is Independent by double wishbones, whereas the CTR is Torsion beam?

Which would be the better car to drive?

the CTR would be quicker and feel nicer to drive , produces its peak torque 1400rpm earlier so you can accelerate and feel power without having to wait as long in the ITS

Which car is lighter as well??

im assuming u guys are talking about the FN2R?
then:
FN2R: 1345kg
DC5S: 1230kg
(from redbook.com.au)

btw would you consider another option --> EP3R. heard alot of good things about it.

heres something from topgear comparing ep3r vs fn2r:

Which car is lighter as well??

ITS = About 1200 ish
FN2R = About 1350 ish

Correct me if im wrong!

That extra weight would vastly kill off any advantage of the torque. But you can always get more power!

Thanks everyone,

that dyno comparison link is awesome, great info.

Didn't think about the EP3 before cause I haven't read much into them and haven't seen one in person yet. They are no doubt nice cars as well, and I won't mind a white one with low K's.

Does the EP3 have LSD? Got reminded that the Type S and new CTR doesn't whereas the DC5R has.

It would be a everyday car for me with some track duties.

If you want practicality go for the CTR. the CTR have big boots and the back seat is very usable for people. In the integra the back seat only fits small children. People taller than 170cm will hit their head on the roof

Easy choice. Do you want a hatch or a coupe? If coupe, then DC5S or DC5R. If you want a hatch, FN2R if you want it new, or EP3R if you don't mind 2nd hand.

i dont think people should support the fn2r. just to show honda we dont want torsion beams. it should be double wishbone all round like the DC2 integra r or accord euros.

if i were to get the fn2r, i'd just get the golf gti. torsion beam is a joke for a sports car.
i beleive the best budget front wheel drive sports car was the dc2r. and now its the golf gti.

Just a few years ago, people were complaining about Honda using macpherson struts instead of double wishbones, just like you are doing now with the torsion beam. Yet, you are driving a car with macpherson struts. In the future, people might become more accepting of the torsion beam :)

it's sad isn't it?? we are going backwards just so the manufacturers can get a bigger margin......

we should expect leaf springs on the next Type R?!!

i doubt it. i think we are heading back to at least macpherson up front and multilink at rear as standard.

yea its true i took a compromise. damn macpherson up front on a standard civic. but i wont accept a torsion beam on any other sports car....let alone a Type R. its a let down for the badge...the UK CTR

meh ITS not FN2...

FN2R are heavier.. earlier peak torque makes up for the fat body..

ITS are lighter in comparison..But power wise is about the same..

FN2R will edge ahead for awhile b4 power to weight ratio brings ITS up by a bonnet space..IMO..
