ek9 or ep3?

anyway you'd have better luck in Melb, most are rebuilts meaning wrecks.
otherwise you may have to go thru the import regulations and find some loop holes to get one accident free.

g'luck

You cannot bring in the Civic Type R - any version, into Australia and have it complianced. ADR and DOTARS inhibit it to import.

The only way to bring one in is if you own the vehicle in its native residence for 12 months and then bring it in as a personal import.

or

Bring it in as a vehicle for off-road / track use only.
You will need a level 3 CAMS liscense, prooven track racing history and furture intentions with the vehicle.

or

bring it in as a half cut.

thats all you can do.
ive been thru this many times a year for the past 4 years and i would have one in my garage now if the EK9 i was buying didnt get purcheased from my hands in Japan :(

buy it from Melb, it save you the hassle of finding those loops, only thing that it is wreck-refix, rebuilt and recomplied all done for you

You forgot the "Rebuilds" that generally come in through Vic, Qld and W.A. I think Vic and Qld have fixed these loopholes but not W.A. Even so, N.S.W. RTA says they wont register a "rebuild" from another state.

Email the Japanese consulate and see when the next ambassador is being sent to Aust. Then email him and get him to buy one and bring it over with him. Get him to register it in Canberra and then buy it off him and transfer the rego to your home state.............EASY!!!!

Don't know what all the "Ya can't import them" crap is about

the metal scratches, coz they are used and the jap don't really care to handle them properly and if buy them used, those guys that removed them just chuck them around like one's business:(

any EK9 engines only for sale?
hehe
duude, if you can find one good luck !
expect to pay about $6500 for it !

Setanta
03-11-2003, 03:56 PM
Which is an ok price given the HP increase compared to working an existing motor (say a B16A etc :) ).

eknine
04-11-2003, 05:21 PM
so which will you pay 6500 for a b16b or 6500 for b18c7....my choice will be say b18c7 or any locally complied block for that matter, compliance is less hassle
