Nah, the chrome is on the backing plastic.

Never did like the chrome myself.

^^same never a big fan of the chrome... x 3

you can open it and try.. quite a bit of work IMO very messy.. but if you open it and if you can't take it off may as well spray it black..

or maybe pm/ask.. iS2000_AP1 , he may have black ones that his won't be using.. maybe you can swap your ones with his ones before he butchers them up..

Yeap you have to oven the headlights and pry them apart, I've done this to my celica and my s2000, It's a pretty hard and painfull job, the glue wasnt excatly made to be opened. With the s2000 headlight it's even harder because it's slightly bigger and the HID ballast makes it a b**ch to take out, however it can be done with paitence. My headlight didn't even fit in the oven so It took ALOT longer then expected, because constantly heating up each coner and prying it open at a time Ending up finishing it and it's all back together with no leaks etc. etc.

Once you take it apart I'm sure you can spray the chrome bit black.

good idea..

might be pricey.. but worth it.. probably better to also get the AP2 ballast, ignitor cable as well.. coz modifying your AP2 lights to fit the AP1 ballast + cable OMG... i think its worst then baking your headlights..

All the best dude let us know how you end up..

when you say "bake" your headlight do you mean that literally? to turn it into orange colour right?

HAHAHHA no dude, its just to melt the glue... so you can pry the housing apart. Then if you want to change the indicator lense to amber you just swap it, need to get a pair from the states though..

aren't any of you guys who have changed their AP1 headlights and rear lights to AP2 lights concerned that they can be forced to get an engineers certificate due to "hacking metal"?

or if the insurance company find out when you make a claim that they might not cover you?

the amount of metal cut, is very minimal. and its not a integral structural part being trimed, just paint it so it doesnt rust. Headlights require not hacking, just make sure the HIDs are lined up correctly.

Thanks for clearing that up.
