Do it yourself and fill them with urethane

Failing that I can source you either new mounts, or put in new rubber inserts or fill them with urethane

What would you like and where in Melbourne?

New mounts would be good but I don't want to spend too much. Are you thinking of those Hasport ones that's $400 for 3 B16 mounts? I'd rather get OEM if possible? I'm in Bayswater which is near Ringwood.

Which Sikaflex. Cause I went to bunnings and there's 2 different types. I spose it doesn't matter eh?

depends on your preference my man. check out the shore hardness on their website. standard rubber mounts are around 40 you should probably go harder like 50-60.

you do know youll gain vibrations in cabin right? if you dont want this effect its best to get either 2nd mounts or brand new ones. i suggest wreckers.

Well I was thinking either new from honda or just new inserts from an aftermarket manufacturer that u press into your old mounts to replace the old rubber...

or gut the current mounts and fill with urethane

wat process is involved wen it comes to reconditioning mounts???

i've never heard of reconditioning engine mounts nor do i think its worth it, they dont even cost that much 2nd hand, and sometimes they give you warranty on them(wreckers).
FYI you dont replace your old rubber with inserts. They are as the name suggests inserts. The fill the empty space in your engine mounts to lessen movement.
and you dont gut the original mounts either i mean you could but its not recommended as you lose the hole positioning. sounds like you dont know what your talking about drew, i suggest you go research up on 'engine mount fill' and 'engine mount inserts'

1:
order a two part polyurethane in your desired stiffness rating:
http://www.solidsolutions.com.au/index.php

2:
get a set of used mounts for your car, doesnt matter if the rubber is cracked

3:
fill them with the polyurethane
http://i18.tinypic.com/6azoguc.jpg
and wait a week for them to set

4:
swap the mounts and sell your old ones

My car had mounts filled with urethane when I got it and IT SUCKED!!!! For everyday driving the car rattledand shook like shit when sitting at traffic lights. Got new mounts now and sooooooooooo much better.

Only good if it's a race car.

sorry to hijack the thread but can someone please elaborate on the difference between hasport mounts and inserts?? i'm currently running mugen mounts and thinking of putting inserts just so it stops engine movements a little more than just the mounts

I think I need new mounts because they're 18 years old and some of them are a bit cracked. I figure I should do this now because they're will probably be a never easier time as I'm in the middle of swapping the engine out.

Well your options would be either order whole new mounts from Honda

Or remove the rubber from your current mounts and fill them with urethane...

If you like a sporty car or intend on racing it at all I would go with the urethane option myself

There are various stiffness levels with urethane...

is the urethane you are talking about liquid form? preusming like a calking gun style of thing?

Comes in that and a plastic bag tube thingie; varies from brand to brand shouldn't make much difference though

If its a bit too thick you can heat it up in the oven for a few minutes

poly means multiple

u can get solid urethane

or a 2 part mix aka polyurethane

mix the two liquids into the mount and they cure over a number of days.. You can get different stiffness ratings.

I am running around 75 stiffness polyurethane in my mounts, quite stiff, but that is how i like it.. you could go something a lot softer.. or even drill big holes in the urethane, a bit like stock, to give it movement..

the stuff i bought was around 80 bucks.. from www.solidsolutions.com.au and did 2 sets of mounts

no point buying hasport.. stock mounts just suck because they are soft and the rubber dies on you.. it is not as though the steel flexes in the mounts, they are hardcore in that regard.. so just change out the rubber, **** paying for hasport lame shit on a stock engine

i have also heard of people getting solid urethane pieces and cutting them to size and pressing them in

and to answer your question
stock mounts are soft to absorb force.. obviously your engine has more play with stock mounts.. which stops in car rattles and shakes etc..

the negatives is that the engine moves around a bit, giving a less precise feel.. things such as gearshifts, removing the throttle at high rpm, axle tramp etc are improved.

it is kinda a hardcore mod.. not for the mainstream.. but it is like everything, exhaust, sussy etc

Would Honda even be able to get them though? They don't know anything unless you give them a VIN number which means I'm up the creek having an import and all. Even if they could go by the model of car they wouldn't have it on the system.
