ek4 oem exhaust

Hi guys,
just wondering if anyone has ever bought an oem ek4 exhaust. cos i've just had my car serviced at Rick Damelian Honda and was told that my exhaust has rusted and that they need to order the part from japan.

i was told the part would cost approx $600

sounds a bit steep to me.

any thoughts??

why not jsut go aftermarket u can get a decent aftermarket for 600 bux?

not sure which part was rusted. they only told me over the phone that the pipe was rusted and they had an aftermarket one available. told them it was ok, but on picking up my car i notice that they had actually changed the whole thing incl the muffler to a little pee shooter basically which was paid for. wasnt too happy with it so i told them to order the oem part.

just get one from a wrecker

i got a b-pipe for $75

you should be able to pick it up for half that price

just tell them to put the rusted one back on..
then go to a local exhaust shop, and get one made up for you..
you'll probably end up spending the same amount, but you'll get more power out of it.

isnt the oem one stainless steel anyway?

Rust on an exhaust pipe or flange is no big deal. Just leave it alone, unless it leaks. Then, just replace the section that is leaking. Usually the b-pipe. The OEM muffler section on an EK4 is very strong and should be still good. Most rust occurs where the pipe bends.

Just ask Honda to put your rusted exhaust back on. They probably gave you a GLi muffler (pea shooter), which is restrictive.

ricer: i hardly drive me car...only on wkends.

Tank: they did find a leak which was why they asked me to change it.

anyways i paid just under $300(installed) for the pea shooter. So if i just pay the difference of $300 for the new (as they quoted me 600) it'll still work out the same than if i got one from a wrecker. Unless Honda refund me for the one they installed which i think will be unlikely.

anyone ever had Honda refund you for a part installed?
