http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/HONDA/CIVIC/details.aspx?__Ntk=CarAll&__D=8th%20gen&__Dx=mode+matchany&seot=0&Cr=6&state_id=79&keywords=8th%20gen&State=Queensland&__N=4294965322+79+834+285+257+413+4294965250&silo=1003&distance=25&R=5438346&__Ns=pCar_PrivateSpecialFlag_Int32|1||pCar_ImageCo unt_Int32|1||pCar_LastModifiedDate_DateTime|1&__Ntt=8th%20gen&trecs=10&__Nne=20&__Ntx=mode+matcha

She is better off buying a new one. She should be able to pick up a new one for about $1000-2000 more and if she is a good at haggling, even at the same price (if reports by some here are to be believed). But $23000 driveaway is not impossible.

yeah probably true, but she wont be able to pay anything over that price though, thats the only reason why shes looking at these prices

If she is getting a loan, the difference in repayments will be negligible. A new car will have better resale value over a used one down the line.

wish it was that easy, girls are hard to convince.
but yeah, shes got her mind set on a $15 gran loan, her moms helping $gran and the rest she is gonna save up she reckons

but reason to why she doesnt want to get a new one cos its only her first car

$1-2K more for a new car and all it's associated benefits isn't very much to pay.

With a used car, she would still have to have it checked out and at 34000kms, a major service is looming which is not a cheap ($400?). So the difference between that used one and a new one could be as little as $1.5K. Perhaps less with a bit of bargaining.

that a good price, do you reckon there would any price differences between Brisbane and Sydney though ?

Used to live in Brisbane, and it was cheaper than Sydney. I helped my sis buy a Civic from Southside Honda back in the mid 90s and got it shipped to Sydney for $500. The dealer got it registered in NSW at Tweed Heads. Even with the added shipping cost, it still was cheaper than buying in Sydney. AFAIK, wages are still lower in Brissy compared to Sydney, so prices should reflect that.

Serious, for a 2006 8th gen 35k km for 20k no way.....
For a second hand car, u have no idea what the previous driver did to the car.
Plus is only few k, you would of have a brand new car.......
2008 8th zero km.......23k (average price)

i dunno whether it can help you or not.

down here in melbourne,

my mate just bought brand new civic 2008 build date last week. for $24k drive away matic. delivery in 2wks. any color he wants.

its got, Honda floor mat, 6 years/175k kms warranty, VIP card (lifetime 10% discount on honda services). it comes with entertainment book as welll... 30% off hoyts and villages ( its got a lot more but its all i care about really) hehehe

and if you read the drive away price thread. another guy from melbourne just got 08 build civic for 23.2k drive away. but i'd still go with the 24k coz the vip card thing... hehehe.

i dunno about brisbane. but i think it shouldnt be any differences. if the price gaps are too much, better buy from melb ;).

hope this helps.

carsales ppl selling their FD with no brain at all. its a honda true. but its a lot cheaper now new compare to when they bought it.

this is weird.... my friend who got the civic last week is exactly in the same situation.... lollll

if you wanted to buy 2. you can haggle for 23k i think. go at the end of the month.

i thought every1 has the VIP card thing when they buy a new car from honda... the dealer just make u sound more special lol

not sure abt the hoyts thing though, dont think i got anythin like 30% off
so u would rather pay 800 bux more to get 30% off movies :p
i.e. ur sayin ur guna spend more than $2500 on movies per yr lol

this is interesting... i did some research on 8th gen civic price in QLD and NSW, it seems that NSW price is cheaper (well for the 2nd hand one that is). Dealer in NSW sell 25k-ish kms 2006 vti for 20-21k and QLD around 25k. See:
Dealer (http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/HONDA/CIVIC/dealer-results.aspx?sort_type=3&Model=CIVIC&state_id=0&N=4294965322%200%204294965250%204294926912%20834%2 0285%20258%20287%201216&distance=25&State=All%20States&sid=1165CE00F84B&Make=HONDA&Ns=pCar_Price_Decimal%7C0%7C%7CpCar_StatusSort_Int 32%7C1&Nne=20)

and for private, check this one in NSW: Private (http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/HONDA/CIVIC/details.aspx?__sid=1165CE00F84B&Cr=1&__Ns=pCar_Price_Decimal%7C0%7C%7CpCar_PrivateSpeci alFlag_Int32%7C1%7C%7CpCar_ImageCount_Int32%7C1&State=All%20States&distance=25&silo=1003&seot=0&__Nne=20&Model=CIVIC&R=5560371&__N=4294965322%200%204294965250%204294926912+834+2 85+257&trecs=14&Make=HONDA&state_id=0&sort_type=2)
