Has anyone ever heard of a "Rebuilt scheme" conducted by Vic Roads? where the cars been given a new vin?
cars like eg6, eg coupes, ek sir's gets them because of something about they can only be privately imported?
has anyone ever heard of a car with 2 sets of vin number, the one to the rego papers is different to the one on the aussie compliance plate? (left to the battery)
I've given details of the car to the lady @ mainroads (QLD RTA), 2 seperate times
1st time, I did it with the vin on the rego paper.
vin: 6S9REBUI1L9544132
no. plate: OZH00D
engine no.: b2039488??
results were "There are no encumbrances that match the quote identifiers"
then I did it again with the vin on the firewall, using same no. plate and engine number.
vin: JHMEK1340XS200776 (example)
no. plate: OZH00D (example)
engine no.: b2039488?? (example)
same results "There are no encumbrances that match the quoted identifiers."
vin has "6s9rebui1l?????"" <-looks like rebuild, this is the one on the rego papers. not on the firewall.
what other compliance plate are there? I know only the aussie deliveried civics, there is only one compliance plate plus the little one on the radiator support eg. "Honda Civic EG6"
Would anyone be able to tell me more about the rebuild scheme, is it normal for the car to have 2 seperate vin, one on the compliance plate and another on the rego papers?

Did you buy the car already in melb or did you purchase it from Japan?
did you ever have to take it to the pits for inspection (run out of rego over 3 months)
also, have you tried doing a car check, using both vin numbers
the one on the rego paper and the one on the firewall
what results did you come up with?
did you find that both of the vin matches to your engine and number plate?

all no's should match up
with the eg6XXXXXX no being a void

I spoken to a bloke that does blue slips, he's told me that if its a jap import, its either got to have a green/yellow/masenta import compliance plate.
So is this rebirth scheme like another way of getting jap imports street registered, only sort of without the import compliance

i bought the car off someone in melbourne. but i did found it was private importted from 1st owner's friend.
after ownedfor 2 yrs, the car was off road for one stage, all vicroad asked just to pay da rego, then my car was bak on road again... even thou i did rwc and etc... vic road didnt ask me anything at all.
i dun thinki have da original vin anymore, but i did da car check, just come up normal detail of the car. the one on da fire wall did come up any result.

u just have to call up your RTA in your state and give them the vin no etc etc
and they should be able to tell u if it can be registered or not
pretty easy and straight forward

This time when you call, don't say what if etc... Tell them that you have already brought the car and would like to register it, and what needs to happen. GL man.

I've done that already, called RTA up, provide them the 2 vin numbers and ask if the car is able to be registered in Sydney.
They said it needs import papers, engineers cert, blue slip and slip for the total weight of the car.
And even then, they arent sure if it could be registered.
so much for being pretty straight forward aye.

i cbf reading it all but normally when a vehicle is issued with a new vin the new one needs to be stamped on the vehicle and the old one needs to be crossed out with '-' or 'X'
due to a vicroads computer error i had to get a new vin issued for my honda nsr250, in which the new vin was stamped on the frame.
. Two lessons learned ... when you blow up a vehicle not everything disappears like on TV, and the second thing is hidden Vin's will come back to bite you because they are not all on the body of the vehicle.
From where I sit the two lessons learned are...
1. Use more explosives next time
2. Use a plane instead of a truck
ooooops

clay hidden vins have nothing to do with his question.
he has been issued a new vin coz it's an import. many imported cars/bikes have been issued with new vins at some stage when they have been re-registered.
in many cases the vehicle was originally imported/registered 100% legally and will show on the victorian system, but not on the national system they switched over to a few years ago. fow whatever reason they can't just copy all the details over to the nationally used system.
in my case after many emails and phone calls to vicroads and dotars i was issued with a surrogate vin, after that i just had to get a rwc and a pit inspection from vicroads. the nsw rwc system is different, which is why he is being instructed to get blue slip etc

quote JOHN TAYLOR, DEPUTY OMBUDSMAN
http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/vic/content/2006/s1637301.htm
Does the engine number on the rego match the engine?
If the VIN on the rego matches nothing on the car, I would leave it. Too much hassle.
But I think you should give Vicroads a call, as they registered the car, and ask them why it has two Vin numbers.
When re-registering a car, even if in a different state, if it has been registered before, you shouldn't need to supply compliance papers again. Engineering cert, yes in some circumstances (if the car has been modified since it was last registered etc. Some states are more fussy than others, that varies.)
But either way, if you really want this car give Vicroads a call. 13 11 71 . (you may need an extension? I'm not sure) But if they don't give you the info you seek, I'd try to find another car.
Also tell these people that the car can't be registered in another state, and try to get it cheap enough that it doesn't matter 8-D

engine number matches regos engine number, had engine conversion done and mod plate on car (Queensland car).
the only thing that doesnt match is the vin, theres one on the firewall, to the one on the oz compliance plate and also diff to the one on the rego sticker.
firewall vin: original vin
compliance plate vin: says its a ek1 5 seater (when it is a ek4 4 seater)
rego sticker vin: is the one vic roads issued (6s9REBUI198F????)
I already called vic roads, they only offered me blue slip inspection and cannot provide much info about the car nor anything about the rebuilt scheme!
