2k1cvc, Nice plate!

has the 6000k HID got pure white light or got a blue tint? reason I ask is ODC headlight has blue tint cover. I'm still deciding to get a 4300K or 6000K HID.

Cheers about the plates, but wifey is getting annoyed  about the $450 a year for them :( might be going on the next rego date

With regards to the 6000k, well it has more of a lavender colour as opposed to a blue, however, i wouldnt go higher than 6000k as the blue already on the headlights does kinda makes it look bluish... *but only if you look at it head on*

Tomorrow night ill post some better picks of the HID's in action. Hopefully they will give you a better idea of what they actually look like in the night..

Hahaha ive just realised that most of us ODC owners are in the same boat.... Married. kids on the way and wives not to happy about modifications on the ODC. :D

Just installed the 4300K HID. End up chosing the OEM color as it has the best lumine.

Anything higher than 6000K is pure wank factor, cos when you first turn on the HID lights it has this charge phase where the light turns from purple/blueish colour to white/yellow. I can't see sh!t at all when it's bluish. That must be what a 12000k look like.

will take a photo of the HID when I get a chance.

OK here it is. 4300K HID with 4000K philips parker light.

OEM colour, identical to a Lexus RX330 in both colour and light output.
Also can see clearly the cut off line from the reflection on the bumper, the light does not go everywhere, does not have glare.

aww man, guess i have to make friends with some Jap dude :) and what did you type in on ebay for odyssey accessories?

As for the wheels I'm thinking along the lines of getting:

(F)20x8.5 (+43) (High Type Disk)
(R)20x9.5 (+46) (Low Type Disk)

Need more dish in the back :) i love the staggered look :)

I've done alot of research on how the Japanese do it, and this seems like a good measurement for it, the only problem is the offset, some of those guys in japan like to use crazy offsets like eg. +40 to +35 front or rear, thats because some of them use air suspensions, which i can't afford just yet, so these measurements will do i suppose :)

As for the designs maybe spoke designs again, but i think i'm going with the black on black look heh heh :)

Hi,

First time posting here gang, have not really considered modding the wife's ODC but she's always pissed that I spend the hard earned on modding my car and not the family wagon.

Anyway I am wanting to improve the headlights (both HB and LB) on my wifes ODC. Frankly the factory setup is very poor, I did not realise how bad it was until I drove it the other night for the 1st time in ages.

Can someone point me the correct direction of a vendor, preferable in Aus for this kind of gear.

Cheers,

S

Hey guys..
one question..

I got a MY07 (facelift) model odc the other day and i'm looking to do a hid conversion on it.
the book says it takes a H11 globe (just like the foglights) but when i asked someone, they said i needed a hb4 kit with a special socket to go with it..

is this right? or should i just get the H11 kit?

this bloke has made me all confusions

if yes, could I have any hints of the locations of the bolts?

** haven't installed HID on mine but did play around **

not really need to remove the whole headlight. drive side is pretty easy to access, just unplug the wire before un-screw the bulb. passenger side is pretty headache, disconnect the battery then totally remove it in order to gain access of the bulb. this time un-screw the bulb before unplug. btw, it should has instruction on owners manual......

evolution
14-09-2009, 12:30 PM
There is no need to remove the headlights. As Aus mentioned it is like changing your light bulbs. Difference is that the wires now plug into the HID ballast first, then the ballast to the HID bulbs and finally the bulbs fit in like regular halogen bulbs.
What I did do was to remove the front bumper so that I could hide the ballast under the headlights.
Things to note, you can use automotive double sided tape or plastic straps to secure the ballast to the car body. The ballast itself should not generate heat. Try to keep it away from direct heat, hence under the headlight casing might be a logical place.

Hope that helps

Hi Guys,

First timer here. Hope your expertise can help my noob ass in sussing out HIDs for my odyssey (06 facelift). From the previous reading looks like i need H1 for hb and H11 for lb and 4300k seems the way to go.

Now can anyone help recommend a good brand? where to get them in Melbourne? and also fit them. Don't trust my own DIY.

btw went to autobarn and asked around just for fun, dude there said something about HB1 and HB4 (obviously wrong from the previous replies above) and Philips are like 500bucks for the set up and another 100 for fitting? even my noobass can tell thats alittle steep but then again what the heck its autobarn.

Any help at all will be much appreciated.. Thanks alot yall. and happy new year!

You can get a slim HID kit for less than $100 in ebay. You don't have to go with a praticular brand because i'm using it as well. If you're fussy, buy the HID kit from www.plasmagarage.com because they're using Phillips ballast. You can go a workshop to fit them or some members here in melbourne can help you as well.

Hi guys,

just fitted the HIDs. Unplugging it from power source off the original light bulb is probably the biggest pain. Hey where do you guys mount the ballast on the passenger side? I'm trying to avoid double-sided tape unless i really have to. Trying to use the metal plates that comes with it if possible.

Thank you

Is your ballast normal/slim size? Mine is slim so I put it just behind the headlight. Normally my friends just cable tie instead of the metal holder.

I strapped it on to the black box to the right of the airbox, tot he far right partyly tucked under the bonnet edges. Was suppose to be a short term solution but seems kinda sturdy so will just leave it there. Will find somewhere between the battery andheadlamp the next time i remove the batt. Btw is MTEC any good?

Thanks for the help
