View Full Version : sydney informal meet?

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone's interested in meeting up and either going for a cruise somewhere or just getting some fast food or whatever.

I live in Gosford at the moment but am happy to drive anywhere really :)

I haven't done any mods to my jazz vti auto, other than switching tyres to Pirelli P6000's (which I found made a huge difference over the stock/OEM rubber), and adding a GPS bracket to the dash.

But I'm a bit curious to see what others have done to theirs (if anything). I also would love to do a Vti auto-vs-manual drag race, but that's just a dream I have and is probably a bit naughty ;)

I would be up for an informal get together at some stage. I live in the Strathfield area so am pretty central to most things.

Cool, I'd love to check out your car. The only question is the timing..

I am pretty much free on any weekend, and even on weekdays if there's enough advanced warning.

We'll just see how much interest this generates first, as I'm pretty flexible as far as timing is concerned too.

Alright so we need a headcount for Jazz owners interested in coming along.

Obviously there aren't heaps, but with ED coming along he can get a few pics. Depending on when we catch up, we can head out for a coffee/dessert or something afterwards. I know of a good place at Concord that as adequate parking for the numbers we would be looking at...

Sounds fine.. what about a saturday or sunday afternoon? As soon as this weekend if people are free?

Andrew,
I'll have my money on the Auto CVT VTi! :)

Sorry all you manual drivers out there!

No way Kit...official times for the auto are something like 12.3 for 0-100 I think....

I'd be up for a run at some stage though. We should head out to the Creek one Wednesday for a look-see

really? I don't know what the figure (0-100kmh) times actually are, but I see no reason why the manual should be faster than the auto (apart from at launch).

once you floor the CVT, it just sticks to the optimal rpm while constantly adjusting ratios to make the car accelerate at maximum power.....
no gear changes either = no lost time.

CVT is good and fast but not that fast

mine is the cvt and i reckon is the best cvt transmision i have driven.. it changes gear as quick as manual.. well in my opinion anyway..

Mine's the CVT auto too. The launches from 0km/h truly suck with this, and I've been too scared to try revving it in neutral and bump it into drive just for the sake of a quick launch.

However, once you pass about 40km/h, it pulls very strongly, gives a turbo-like rush of acceleration.

If I had to guess I really think the auto would be beat manual at 0-100km, but if it didn't, I'd say it definitely would beat it at 0-160km/h... But I've never driven a manual version of this car, and may never get to even see one unless we actually meet up :)

as i am working 7.30 to 10.30pm on the 25th now.

where were you going to meet up?

Pete :)

Jus-10

If we aim for the 25th, and we wanted to get some pics as well, there is this road at Homebush Bay up towards the ferry that leads to the water. It hought we could get the cars together up there for some group shots. It is usually pretty quiet up there at any given time of the day.

But whatever suits. I don't have anything that day.

what do you mean? the whole point of CVT (continuously variable transmission) is that it has no gears.

sorry if i didnt make it clear, but what i meant was..

if the car is under normal cvt driving mode.. its goes like a snail BUT...

The cvt has a 7spd button which i can control the gear ratio, which means it will dramatically increases the response in torque and i can hang on to a gear till i press the + button for the next gear to change. (usually go around 6500 before the change - if i drive hard)

any other cvt owners know what im talking about?

to launch hard on a jazz is easy, need to use the S (sports gear) and the 7spd option.. (figure it out - i did) dont do it to often though cuz the last time i did it.. i need to replace something inside the gear box (dont know the name) .. .lucky mine is under warranty.. and the mechanic told me that i was the first one who stuffed the (gear thing - forgot name)..

keep in mind that i only drive hard when i use synergy8000 (premium petrol).. unleaded sux but cheap.. but i always do manage to get premium petrol then the normal unleaded ones.. they only 3 dollars more

Im not sure if im coming or not.. it just depends on the official date and time.. if no one comes then we can always do it another day...

Mmmkay then, so Sat 25th Sept, in the afternoon, looks like we've reached a concensus :)

If you can't make it, no big deal, I'm sure we'll have more meets in the future. I just wanted to start the ball rolling.

I will definitely bring my camera..

ps. I didnt think this was actually going to be a cruise, but if you want to go cruising afterwards thats fine with me. I have a small cheap UHF CB ...

I got some pics, but I'm on snail-up internet and I just can't get the pics up.

We had 4 people turn up, and Sp00n dropped by to say hello....

I've never seen that many Jazzes in the one place before.

petrovski
26-09-2004, 10:49 PM
Yeah it was great . . . excellent in fact!

Jus-10, Andys, Dc and myself turned up and Sp00n dropped by for about 20 seconds i think  (he was teaching someone to drive)

all had a chat and was good to put some names to faces and then took some photos. Ive got some photos but not on the computer yet hopefully wil have it done in the next day or two.

Jus-10 and i think Andys noticed some differences between the newer models and the older ones ie 2003 compared to 2004. the new ones dont have key holes on the boot or passenger door. Also, the different components bewteen the CVT autos and the manuals.

Seeing that many jazzes together is pretty cool too

we'll have to try and organise another meet in the future and with more jazzes  :honda:

Pete :)

p.s if anyone is considering suspension for their jazz i highly recommend the tein superwagon coilovers - they are incredible and make the jazz 100000000 times more fun to drive even if you only get to drive it for 30 seconds :D ;)

Thanks for the meet guys, it was good

I'll post the pics I took, when I get a chance(tm)

BTW, yesterday, I had an awesome, long, off-road drive through Yengo National Park (its up my way, north west from Gosford). Driving on dirt roads is suprisingly fun and addictive in the jazz... I'm probably never going to change my suspension, I like forest driving too much :D

Looking forward to a possible track day with you guys, if we can ever get organised enough for that ... (renting Wakefield for private use is only about $2k for a whole day, could be cheap if we spread it among enough ppl)

what happened to the wheel covers of the blue jazz in front?

That would be my car. Some little sh*ts nicked off with two of them while my car was parked at a train station.

The car looked weird with only two left so I took them off. I don't feel like buying new ones because (a) they're overpriced (from Honda) (b) they'll just get scratched up and (c) they'll probably get stolen again.

I've been thinking about getting new wheels, but I honestly can't fault the current wheels...
