AVERAGE KM's FOR EG HATCH 92-95

Hi im new to the car scene and am interested in buying myself a EG4 or EG5.
just wondering what the average km's on the clock most EG's around have, considering that it is an old car.

if anyone can give me some advice, it'll be very appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

really depends, you can find some with about 100,000

but rarely anything < 100..

oh alright, because i have found one. its currently got at 21x xxx on it. and im just not too sure if it should be less or more considering that the car is about 13 years old.

oh, just another thing. i was also wondering what to look for in a EG when going to buy one. Km's is definetely one but is there anything else other than looks and such. are there things to look at in a EG, example maybe the suspension stuffed and it shouldnt be etc.?

I think you should play it on the safe side and get a reputable workshop to do a health check on the whole car before you leap into it, no doubt 2xx,xxx km is quite a high mileage and it is a 10+ year old vehicle so many problems will occur due to general wear and tear; just my thoughts, no point buying a lemon.

i got a eg about 5 years ago, gli, 240,000km...
i never drove it coz it was smashed!

i think most eg will be hitting 200k nowadays.

its kinda hard to find a decent EG in melbourne. they are rare the VTI's and Si's.

you can have 200k on a car driven nicely.
or a car 200k beaten down by hard driving.

i dont think k's always shows that their is going to be lots of problems, it really depends on how the owner(s) have treated the car.

some people still drive cars that are well over 300k and have not much problems.

a lot comes down to maintenance, poor choice of servicer or oils and parts used will generally lead to shorter life span of any engine (esp the power steering system Honda uses, it requires a Honda branded PS fluid or it'll damage seals)

my eg4 has 150,000 on it

Mine has 208,000 and climbing :) Never had a problem with it, EVER.

Just make sure when your thinking of km's the car has driven, your thinking of the chasis..Not the motor (unless it has a b18c7 or a k20/k24 motor in it)

well i'd like to think of both, bcoz the fact that i won;t be thinking of anysort of engine conversion during the mean time. my goal is to just get a car b4 anything. and the car must be somesort reliable. maybe a b series or turbo later on, thats why im in the market fora si or vti. but like i said at teh end of the day no one wants a car thats not reliable and being so will last me longer with no headaches. but ur right when it comes to those who are seeking the car for its chassis km;s.

My D16Y1 has 300xxxkms n' still going strong. Maintained well, a honda engine can last up to 600,000 no probs.

my eg5 has 130,000km and rarely driven, got it 2yrs ago with 110,000km on the clock.
