I just installed my mugen kit and the bumper is about 1-2cm away from my exhaust! The exhaust is low to the ground already and I'm worried about the paint melting under the bumper and the bumper melting. Anyone know if there's some kind heat shield or protective material or suggestions on how to prevent this?

I've heard other people having similar problems with exhausts on their back bumpers.

you will be fine. I have mugen kit with stock muffler. Paint still good. Will be changing to aftermarket exhaust soon with the exhaust sticking out a few inches

my exhaust is like less than 1cm away from the bumper i swear. but the tip sticks out from the bumper. no melting, cracking or black marks.

I hope mine goes ok. I actually think it's between 0.5 - 0.8 of a cm away. Cause it's one of those BMW racing style ones which tilts up at a 55 degree angle into the air

i think youll be fine. I see people use heat guns to remove kits and those things are hot. It doesnt melt paint or the part. Exhausts do get hot but i dont think the smoke or the heat it emits is hot enough to do that.

Does this still apply if we are using replica plastic kits?

aha... civic with AC Schnitzer tips
mine need to re-adjust the exhaust coz when it's shaking (warm up engine or accelarate), touch the body kit. so i went to exhaust shop and bend them little bit lower. may be i installed rear kit bit too low.

That's not mine... I googled.

There are a few place out there that make carbon things for people. No idea where you find them though?! You guys can get one custom made, and do a group buy...

It's not rust that comes out of your exhaust man...

It's CARBON, a byproduct of incomplete combustion from burning a fuel - IE Running Rich.

My exxy Spoon exhaust system shoots black shit out, and that's cos of my tune :)
