This may or may not help but same thing happened with my home theatre system so I took the amplifier back to get fixed and then it didn't do it anymore.

I had the exact same problems when i installed a new amp

is your speakers amplified?
coz i think its just the amplifier loosing power so it shoots out all the power left to the speakers or the subs
coz it happens to all my subs or amplified speakers
hope i dun sound like an idiot

you sound like one :p
ppl shouldn't have any pop noise to their system

Cheap Amp's and Head Units do this. Its caused by charged capacitors that expel their charge through to the speakers or something like that.
Buy a decent Amp/HU with a built-in de-popper or get an Add-on filter that removes it.
My Sony Amp did it. I replaced it with an Audison, popping gone...

i didnt know whether to laugh or cry, i didnt know if he was asking a question or making a statement that hes getting a popping sound in his system :)
and its not from charged caps its caused by switching that allows power to pass then the caps take charge once the circuit has been completed.
Laski, if you remember back in our hay day, lots of expensive gear was giving us turn on and off pop :p

make a choice to laugh or cry , its not hard :)

The pop could be from HU and amps having separate remote in connections. Ideally you want a HU with line out for your amps. If your amps (or pre amps) turn on a different times you will get the pop noise. You can add a relay to stop this happening but this is only a band aid solution. Higher power devices are more susceptible to popping.

so just change the amp? :S

This popping noise your talking about is normaly caused when an amp is installed and the +12v and rca's and everything is connected except for the earth/ground, what happens then is the amp tries to turn on but there is no ground on so the next place it tries to pull it from is the rca sheilding which is internaly grounded in the amp and the deck causing damage to occur (in most cases that is, majorly in pioneer units). Now the solution, try and run an earth strap from the body of the car with crimp, screw and wire to the sheilding of the rca cable on both the amp and deck side, try this for now and report back.
Sorry i forgot to add if the ground is connected after the rca's and everything.
OMG.JAI xD

uhmm.. dood, his amps doo turn on n off.
which means hes got ground connected :/
its normal manz just leave it at that.
or you jsut disconnect the sub and that solves that.
i used to have a pop.. then a huge vibration as if all the battery power went to the subs.
i found tht my remote/acc wire was eaten..(ok well, it fell off =], dodgy wiring ftw)
so i took out all the wiring n re wired properly.
i only get the pop now.
its just a pop..
pop noise is very loud ,
happens when you switch on the headunit or when switching it off as well as
mute/unmute.
going to connect a friends amp and see if this solves the problem.
i had this on my old car, problem was that the voltage from the amp kept changing when turning off and on. I had to pull out my whole wiring and rewire everything. It fixed the problem so its all good.
but your problem is most probably the amp.
hope it all helps :D

I know there is a ground connected, like i said when it was being installed if the ground was installed lats after power and rca's you run the risk of having a floating ground, hence the reason to run earth straps to the amp and deck end of the rca's, trust me guys i know what im talking about, i dont guess like some of you guys

And trust me mate it is not normal, very common but far from normal!
I fix up at least 3 of these problems a week at work.

does it also happen when you go from volume 1 to 0 and when you press next track?

Yepz.. it exactly does that

Get your mate in the front of the car to press next/off/mute while you are watching the amp. Assuming there is a power LED and protection LED, do they change at all? If the protection LED (usually red) comes on for a second or so, its probably a power issue. If the power LED (usually green) turns off, you most likely have a weak remote signal.
If it is going into protection, use a memory multimeter to read the voltage when the pop happens. See if it goes under 9V and if so, it needs thicker gauge, shorter ground, healthy battery or healthy alternator.
If it is turning off and on you need a stronger, more reliable remote signal. If your head unit has remote out use it. If your amp doesn't like the remote out from the headunit you can tap almost and acc wire (EG your cigg).
If you are using a device between your headunit and amps and is not using the same remote wire this could cause it.

Going to try that tomorrow
I quickly tryd a shorter grounding but no luck.
