I have a 95 teg vtir, I got it in about november last year. I'm wondering if anyone else out there experiences this - it's always burning hot inside the car. And wait before you pounce on me, because the fan is always pushed down to the bottom of blue. I'm not running my heater :P
Is this common? Seriously, in the autumn cool of late I get out of my car having driven 40 mins with the windows down, and outside is so much cooler than in the damned car.
To the mods, I did a forum search and came up with nothing. If this has already been covered, a link would be much appreciated :D

What colour is your car?. Maybe press the setting that allows outside air to come in

yeh the colour of the car/paint will have effect on the cabin temp. i use to have a dark coloured car and it use to get friggin hot inside esp during summer. i would be driving with both windows down and fan on max and i'll still be sweating bad...i now drive a white car and i notice the difference.

like hui said colour of car effects the temp inside. Darker cars are hotter as they attract more heat while lighter colours reflect.

Also if you have no tints the car can be quite hot as well, so instead of respraying your car why dont u get some decent dark tints. (25% if you wanna stay legal or 10%-15% for ultimate cooling with good vision but is illegal)

That may help with the temperature problem

btw on the legality of tints. Police rarely bug you about it so yeah  my old tints were like mirrors and most police won't give you a hard time about it unless your giving them one

I definitely notice the radiating heat from the windscreen even when using aircon.

dude i ask similar question a while back
turned out my when i turn heat on full/cool made no difference
because the wire at the back was fked
its stuck on red
but yeh...now its winter its ok
just in summer i do ghetto style
stick hand down the hood to flip it to cool side and just don't touch it. :)

it could also be engine heat coming through the firewall and is making you heat up

interior colour is wat wud affect it more...
i had seat covers on 4 about 3 months, n just took em off last week, n now it gets pretty hot inside

Dont see how seat covers affect the temperature inside the cabin...

coz if ur interior is blak it absorbs the heat.
if u gota white interior it reflects

I disagree. I had a black interior and it didn't affect the heat at all. My car was silver and it had the stock ek4 interior. However I had tints which really cooled my car down + the fact taht my car was silver which is a lighter colour meant it reflected the light.

I dont think interior colour affects the temperature that much. The main aspects would be window darkness + colour of the exterior.

Think about it. The reason the exterior gets hot is cause the exterior is metal. Metal heats up and obviously that heat travels to the inside. Depending on the the colour of that metal the more or less heat is taken in. The darker it is the more heat is absorbed by the metal and then travelled inside. The lighter the car is the less heat is taken in.

Also think about how much light travels through your windows? Alot right? they are on all sides of your car. Tints reduce the amount of UV rays + Light that pass through the glass ultimately reducing the heat. (You will also see people put that silver stuff on their windscreen as it is the biggest window and the angle its at attracts the most light.)

The only way interior can contribute to the heat of the cabin is either it is heated up from the light passing through the window, which in this situation means the cause is the window or the fact that the AC system is faulty. Which again has nothing to do with the colour of the interior

My DC4 doesnt.

neither my ek4, if i leave it on the red then i can feel hot air but as soon as i push to cool it probs at best gives me a little under room temperature or outside temp (normal) not cold or anything... only when i give it a good push itll get a little hot when i say good push i mean atleast 3 gears of good vtec not just the 1st 2nd gear vtec rush.

its because of your half white half asian 6 packed hot ass sitting inside.

no really, its probably heat rising from your exhaust under your shifter because of your aftermarket ful sik re exhaust which probably has the heat shield removed.

I had a problem like this after a mechanic did some work, they left a cover or something unattached underneath the gear shift, this meant that during driving all the hot air from the engine came through into the cabin. What gave it away was that the gear shifter and boot got very warm, much like my left arm.

Thank you all, your replies are all well thought out and much appreciated. I've decided that instead of taking any of your advice, I'll be driving everywhere naked. That should keep things a bit cooler...

If the fans are blowing hot air instead of cool check the wiring and stuff for the heater

If the ambient temperature is just really warm/hot check to see if all the heat shields under the car are still in place and haven't been removed
