What is the correct way to reset the ECU on a 1990 Civic SIR B16A motor??
disconnect the negative at the battery...
pump the brakes a few times to gt rid of any charge...
remove the battery fuse, and backup fuse. 15, 7.5
everything back together and ecu reset?

Turn ignition key off & remove "HAZARD" fuse(located in engine bay fuse box) for 10secs.................simple........

Im pretty sure just disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery, resets the ecu too. because it cuts power off to everything.. unless the fuse box holds a charge...

well I know mine works because I did it last week and it def the safest way to do it.
+ its good to reset the ECU whenever you change engine/performance stuff this way the engine gets a chance to adapt to the mods you made and run at its max

Problem is it doesnt relate to the OP's car.
Another thing,u dont have to remove both fuses,u can leave the "ECU" fuse in if the ignition key is turned off.Only the "BACKUP" fuse ("HAZARD" fuse for OP's car) needs to be pulled.
Another thing, its a waste of time leaving the fuse out for a coupla minutes, the charge bleeds off the caps within seconds,so 10 secs max is enough.
Another thing, the idling initiation sequence only relates to post OBD2 cars,so for the OP's OBD0 car,u just get straight in & drive at your leisure.

Im also interested to know if the reset should be done wen the engine is cold or warm?

I warm my car up to normal operating temperature first so that when I restart it to run for 10 minutes the automatic choke doesn't make it idle high initially. It probably makes no difference whatsoever but that's what I do!

No,i wouldnt bother unless your fuel economy has been suffering of late.Even then, when u reset it u could possibly get poor fuel economy for a few fills until the ecu finds its feet again. If still bad economy, then u got other issues, like o2 sensor, clogged fuel system, etc.
