yes 95 is a eg5, if its hatch
and it should have sunroof if its VTi, on the engine also should be written 'SOCH Vtec' mate~

eg6 is JDM version mate, b16... perhaps its actually an SI, which is a non vtec dohc motor, as good as sohc vtec imo...

also have a look at rear brakes, it should be disc brakes, not drums...

Good luck with the car mate

eg6 doesnt have a sunroof. your probably looking at a gli with a vti engine conversion. ive seen a few advertised as a vti in my hunt for a decent eg. it seems that there is more in victoria at the moment than in any other state.
if in doubt there should be some authority that you can approach. take the vin number and get them to do a check on it. they can tell you if its under finance if its been crashed and more importantly in this case what the car was originally registered as. (i think they can do this)

just to clarify. i didnt mean that there are lots of vti conversions in vic. just that tehre seems to be a few around. what i was trying to say is that there seems to be more good ones in vic. and just more available in general.

EG5 = "Si" and "VTi" hatches.

"Si" was 91-93.. the "VTi" came out in 93 replacing the Si.

"Si" and "VTi" both have full electrics and rear disc brakes - the "VTi" has an electric 'moonroof' standard.. The Si has nicer fabric on the interior IMO.

I'm 90% sure the EG6 had a varient with Sunroof but any "EG6" is an imported model and very rare in this country.

for the price people want for their vti models now you would just about be better off buying a cheap gli and putting bigger better engine into it. like a b-series. just make sure to go efi.

didnt read all the thread.but.

if your still going to look at a car and want to know if it is eg5,unless the seller went to a bit of work,it has a plate on the top radiator support bar that states the model.for instance,my twin carb gl eg's plate says eg4

hey guys some feedback..

the car was a eg4 equipt with a d15 engine, full elec, paint was fresh new re-sprayed white solid. it had usdm tails, front fogs and a lip.

it had hub caps :P LOL. twin tip, the dials were sitting on 168k

the engine was bad when i open the oil cap the engine starts spitting oil this is when its on idle.

she told me she sell it to me for 6k advertised 8k and i didnt even bargain yet. i said i'll buy it for 3k, shes going overseas in a month so yeh.. as rice_civic stated a engine conversion if i can get it for this cheap.. i got a pm about a b16a jdm engine im interested.

gettin psyk'd up just to look for my ride

vtec-yo :)

depends on the design of the rocker cover wether oil will come out when you take the cap off, some engines are designed with baffles there that stop it,others arnt....it is in no way an indication of what condition the engine is in.no way at all.

3k for a resprayed eg....thats crazy cheap, goodluck if you get that, and hey trying cant hurt, but really its worth more than that.for her to get her moneys worth it is worth 4-5k....but hey you may as well start at 3

if your getting it that cheap dont worry about the engine condition. just drive it till it stops then so a transplant.

if its a sohc vtec it should be a vti motoro but since it doesnt have a sunroof then im not sure...

my eg si has no sunroof with twincam non vtec~

maybe check the engine as well if it really is a vti engine.. should be d16y8 or something and si is d16a8 i think..

ye man definitely mate~...it was advertised for about 5600 i bargained for ages.. but ive seen some for 6 grand... you have to be patient
but yer 10 grand sounds about right 5 years ago lol

jaydenn, also make sure when you go look at civic have a look at paint..i went to see various years (92-95) and i notice roof paint faded and that so just be careful on how much you wanna spend on paint..look for rust as well but i doubt there will be any, and also look at door trims and that, they crack up at the top near the window if car has been left in sun alot.

cheers

respray may be a good thing, but there are things to take extra notice of as well when such a situation arises. Why was there the need for a respray in the first place? Was the paint not taken care of to begin with or may there have been an accident and hence the need for a respray? These are only possibilities though when mentioning a respray. You can also look towards the good side of things! Just make sure you examine other parts E.G. any signs of a bent chassis or parts looking outta place thoroughly when you're looking for evidence of accidents. Afterall, EGs are at least 13 years old, so it's safer to check everything so you have a peace of mind afterwards.
