Details should be on the RTA Website; if not your local Motorcycle dealership are aware what bikes are Learner Legal.

Do you know much about the RS250?? Cos they require a bit of maintanence, expensive to insure and most of the big bike companies have big plans this year with the release of 4 stroke 250's and even fuel injected versions:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Also I'm in Melb but I believe the Hyosung GT650 (650cc) & GT650R (650cc) comes under LAMS approval. Check with your locals tho

RS250, RGV250 and NSR250 are the only 250's not legal under LAMS... i was going to buy a RS250, and the guy questioned me about my riding experience... when i told him that i was on my P's... he told me to really think twice about it because he's offed 600's in the first few gears...

Have a look at the Hyosung GT650R. It's a 650cc that complies with LAMS. It has tourqe, it's easy to get them going quite well, they sound good and well priced.
I used to sell these in Melbourne and they are quite good for a learner bike.

They are $8990.00 brand new but you should be able to negotiate a good deal as the dealers have a bit of room to move on them.

Zilli, you can pretty much write off any 250cc 2 stroker.

Talking about fast 250's is like figuring out which Kia is faster. The CBFZXR-RRRRR bikes are all roughly the same performance wise.

Is that strictly 4 strokes or all 250s?

All 250s. 2 stroke variants are a bit less slow.

250s are nuggets =) the hyosungs 600s are fkn quick as **** compared to my 250. got smashed once, never pick on a 600 hyosung again lol, thought they were slow hence LAms approved

but gunning a motorbike straight line is homo anywais, u get bored of straight line, the the corners that makes u come back for more and more and more ...

until u stack it lol ...

i heard these new rules lets you ride anything under 650 or 600 except it has to be down tuned to a lesser power, but as soon as u get it roadworthied then just tune it back up. thats what the guy at redwing honda told me. cbr250RR all the way, i want a black one..... or a kawaski ninja. they're the best in my idea. i did test ride a hyosunggt250R the other da and it sounds a lot better than you'd think, wouldnt come near a cbr or anything in power but for 6500 out of the box its a pretty sweet deal. plus the hyosung are a big sized 250, so they're very comfortable.
