There does not seem to be a lot of aftermarket oil filters. Has anyone had any experience with one?

I use the K&N HN1004 but only because it has a 1" nut on the end of it.

It filters oil. The only way you're going to know whether it is any good is if you suffer increased engine wear (in which case, it's not good).

I was being sarcastic. They are like $40 each compared to $7 for oem.

Its the same as a V05 in Valvoline.

Just cross reference it with Pure One, Ryco etc.

I use HP1004 K&N from an S2ki group buy a while back.

My reasoning behind an aftermarket filter is that this is a relatively inexpensive improvement.

In what way is it an improvement?

New HAMP ones are the small ones.... Anyone know how to get the big ones? I don't like the bigger pressure drop compared to the large OEM.

They use the same filter diameter, screw thread and o-ring diameter. The only difference is in the height of the filter.

What is the clearance that you have for the oil filter on the S2k? Do you have a height limitation where you have to use the shorter filters like HAMP and the newer Honda OEM ones?

Sorry to bring this thread up again guys, but I went to buy an oil filter the other day for a mates S2000 and honda told me ALL honda's use the same filter. Now doing a search on s2ki.com, this theory seems to not be true.... Can anyone confirm if Honda in australia use the same filter as all hondas or is there a special filter for the S2000

Thanks

I suggest in future you speak to someone who knows what the hell they are talking about. This precludes Honda dealers.

If you bothered to fill in you Location: we might be able to advise you of a Honda specialist who has a clue.

best bet is to take your chassis number into your honda parts dealer and they will get you the correct filter, make sure you get a new washer for the oil drain plug also, as you should replace this with every change.

Ok so me and my mate did a bit of research and after making phone calls to just about every honda dealer in victoria... we came upon the same answer from all of them. THey use the one OEM filter for every honda car including the S2000. part no 15400RTA003. Now I have an S2000 as well thats serviced by a honda dealer in melb so I went to check what filter is in my car so we can compare to what we should get for his car and to me it looks exactly like the A003 generic filter that honda said they use on all cars. However after doing more research on the web, the guys in the US reckon theres a different filter for the S2000 only. a PCX004 I think the part nnumber is. However its a US part number so it doesnt make sense to anyone here in oz. Apparently its a slightly larger filter to the OEM one and has a different bypass pressure relif valve. So now I'm wondering if MY own car has the wrong filter in it too ! :( can anyone shed anymore light on this ?

Thank you

Buy from America.

Let me know how you go cause I want to buy from them soon too :)

hmmm maybe we'll just the the filter honda recommended. I just called CRS automotive who are also a honda specialist here in melb and was told the same thing. Using a OEM honda filter with this part number 15400RTA003 is perfectly fine in an S2000.

For starters, it's a OEM filter, therefore it works, it's been working on millions of Honda engines without fail for years. So why on earth would you change to another brand? Is your car so heavily modified, you now need something better??? Each to there own I guess. But it's not like the factory filters are shit.

Are there any in-depth reviews of honda filters? Like when they inspect the filter media they use and such.

also anyone seen this filter magnet you put on your filter. I saw it on a magazine

Filter magnet's are a great concept and there would be nothing wrong with using one, just I don't see it being necessary. If you do regular interval changes, all will be good. I've run a magnetic sump plug for over six years, and have rarely had anything stuck to them, which implies the oil filter is doing it job just fine.

Yes I agree OEM is best. But have a look at this thread

http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=192750

There are many OEM honda filters. The first one listed there is the PCX-004 which is a honda OEM filter. Now if you scroll down a bit to this Honda 15400-PLM-A01 this is the OEM filter that honda Australia provide although under a different part number. After doing some research, I've found that the PCX filter is about has a 10mm larger outter dia than the A01 which you get from honda australia and is overall the larger filter. I have also found that up untill approx 2003 honda used to use a larger filter on all their 4 cyl cars approx the same size as the PCX-004 which is used now on the S2000. After 2003 honda made a change to the smaller A01 filter for MOST of their 4 cycl cars and brought out the PCX-004 which is larger for the S2000. Honda Australia on the other hand seem to never have heard of this specific S2000 filter and reckon it doesnt exist. Both of these filters are blue in color and both are Honda OEM filters. One just seems to be bigger to account for the higher flow of oil in the S2k. Can everyone here see my confusion ? I'm not asking about using an aftermarket filter, I'm questions which OEM filter to use and is there another specific OEM filter for the S2000 that has somehow gone un-noticed here in oz for whatever reason ?

hence why I said buy it from America. It works out to be the same price or cheaper (well maybe not now since the exchange rate dropped).

You can get PCX-004 in any honda dealership. I always use it and never had any issue sourcing it.

really ? the dealers here in melb dont seem to know anything about it ! I might try some interestate dealerships and see what response I get. Can you tell me which dealer you use ?
does it use a different code name here in oz ? or is it still a PCX-004 ?

Seems like some dealers in oz do know about the PCX-004 filter. Can anyone here tell me which dealer stocks them and in what state they are in ???

Thanks

We are not able to export any of the items. Honda restricts the export of any US market parts and accessories.
We only ship to the 50 United States.
- No Exceptions

Has anyone had any success with purchasing from this place? I've wanted to purchase several items in the past but there shipping policy states they only ship to 50 US states...
