fuel economy

hey guys,

got a 94 eg4 and its doing like 350km a full tank atm 400km if i push it. ive checked the fuel pump for leaks and i cant smell any petrol around the car. i read on the forum that reseting your ecu can make a difference. the only mods i have on the car are a cat, cannon and air pod. Are there any suggestions on wat i can do?

Get the fuel filter changed, if it hasn't been done for a long time.
My EK used to do 400km. With new filter, I get 500km before light comes on.
Make sure it's honda OEM filter.

ive also changed it because thats wat i initially thought was the problem, but im not sure if its oem? how much is a fuel filter for oem?? and what difference would it make?

Big difference between some cheap ass brand filters and OEM. Filtration is much finer in OEM filters from Honda so the fuel burns better and it's not dirty fuel your putting through your engine.

Do an ECU reset like you said before...Check under the DIY section and that should set you on your way. Other things to look for: dirty spark plugs and shitty worn spark leads, black and burnt smelling oil :thumbdwn: TIME FOR A SERVICE :p

I'm sure there's more to it, but that's all I can name atm.

yeh... i havent checked my sparks yet so i guess ill do that. thanks dude

also my fuse box under the bonnet sticker is missing if someone could post up a diagram of where the ecu fuse and backup fuse is that would be great thanks

What is your tyre pressure and what size tyres do you have?

i have 225/45/16 at the front and they are around 34 psi is that what they should be?? im gonna put 205/45/16 on them wen they wear out.

If you are doing mostly city/suburb driving, then your tyres are to blame for the high fuel consumption. You have a combo of heavier rims and tyres over stock, and then couple that with a rolling diameter that is 26mm larger than stock (and not road legal)

yep now down to 450-500 pushing the limit now then yellow light, lol. I'm keen to see the figures with the new engine in vvvvv prob 350 lol
