Ok the car is an Auto 92' GLi EG Civic.

When the car shifts from 1st -> 2nd, there is a rumble, slightly, in the car, and you can hear it, sounds a sif you just drove on a part of rocky road. Goes for about 2-3seconds. Very headachy.

I was told it was the transmission fluid was low, and they brought it back up.

And the problem has only been slightly fixed. I'm thinking its the whole gearbox ain't it, maybe that needs to be replaced? Should i just go to a mechanic and ask if they can check it out and see whats wrong?

From the rumbling, it could be a worn clutchpack.

Its auto, so how much does it cost to fix?

If worse comes to worse you can pick up second hand gearboxes cheap. In my old Kombi Van I paid $1500 to 're-build the transmission',it was an auto,I'm sure he just changed a couple of gaskets though.

No idea here. Have to ask for quotes. Not cheap I reckon. Involves opening up the gearbox, unlike in a manual. I'd get a 2nd hand one instead. Something from a low km write off.

Hmms. Because my mate family owns a mechanic, could i ask em 2 check it out?

And where do i find these low km write of gearboxes? And I'm thinking of dropping an Si engine into the car, so replacing the gearbox also (the Si motor is also auto) and ecu and all that? Is it legal, as you cannot actually put an engine in older than the shell? but my model is 92, could i possibly drop a 92 Si? or would i have to drop a 93?

Definately get em' to check it out but taking the gearbox out and opening up takes time.If it's free do it.If not go for a second hand one off here,OZHONDA.But if your doing an engine conversion don't bother with the above, cause your gonna change it anyways :)

Wells i just bought my car, and i got jibbed (reepeed orrrf), 5.5k, but with 130,000k on the clock, i'm in no rush for engine conversion.. and, how long does it roughly take pulling the gearbox apart?

Find out autoboxes from wrecks at the wreckers. If you are swapping, go for a newer engine. Why stick to the same year? You just end up with an equally old and worn engine. Go for something new. B16a?

Next year when I'm on greens, plans for a bigger engine. Right now its just something to twiddle and muck around with. I'm still on auto's, when greens, something something.

Ah, I see. Look forward to your b18C/k20A swap next year. :)
