hey fellas, just new. had my lude for a lil while now. Just wondering, might be stupid question so dont laugh at me. Is it possible to put a vtec head on my h23a?? if so what sort of price would i be looking at. Just curious as i know you can fit rb26 heads on the rb25 and stuff. cheers

might be cheaper and easier to just change the whole engine

cheaper and easier to replace a whole engine rather than just put a vtec head on top? didnt think it would be cheap , but wouldnt it be true there would be a tad more power in a vtec h23a1 , than a h22a vtec? where does all the cost come from?

I'm guessing no

they wouldn't make the h22 the flagship motor for the Prelude if it wasn't the best of them.....

just guessing the work involved with putting the head on, its easier to just change the whole motor....:)

been reading up about it on hondaswap , the american forum, seems to be alot of people doing the h22 head with h23 block. went to a performance shop today they said it has been done, but its hard to find a h22 head. and the ecu. stupid computer.

Yes it can be done.

I am sure if you plug it into google and other US honda sites you will come up with many hits.

isnt there a rare h23a vtec motor... the blue top? if you can source one of them i'd imagine it'd fit straight on... but just my speculation...

so would it be cheaper to get the bluetop h23 put in a si h23 instead of a h22?

I recommend you take a look at this..
it'd probably work out cheaper and you'll probably find less problems with it in the long run..

yea all the 4th gen gearboxes are interchangeable...
ratios are shorter in the h22a box than the h23 and f22's.

no, because first of all it's a lot harder to find a bluetop and then import it to OZ. Much easier to find a h22 for the swap. Either way will be expensive though. Also depends if you do the work yourself.

I've heard of a H23A vtec but i'm not really sure if its true or not.. apparently you can find the engine in the japanese accord SiR.. then again i'm not totally sure on that as well.. can someone correct me if i'm wrong?
A head conversion would be too expensive as well.. cheaper option would probably be to buy a H22A.. you'd be paying a lot less for roughly about the same gains (maybe a little less).. but then again, I always say whatever gets you off.. so if its what you want go for it and make sure you enjoy the end product =]

You are correct. There IS a H23A vtec and it is from a jdm accord.
