you will probably want spacers. i had mb quartz in my civic and even with spacers it was pretty close to the window. they were 6.5 inch which wont go into the stock holes even if you take the plastic bracket for the 4 inchers out. save yourself the running around and grab some pacers before you pull the door apart and realize you need them.
best to go with spacers, i installed some 6.5" splits into mine as well and required spacers. Problems you shouldn't come across too many. Simply make sure you have a good connection with all your lines, which usually requires some soldering :)

i dunno if there any difference between the eg and ek depth for the front speakers (assumimg they are the same), anyways me and a friend just install some alpine splits and we didnt need spacing. We had to cut off the plastic cup thing where the old oem speaker rest its back on, soo theres ruffly 1-2cm clearance from the window glass
hope that helps

bugger all room to play with. almost no speakers will fit in there unless they are 4 inchers in the factory spacers. once you take the spacers out your not gonna fit much in there at all. unless it has the worlds shallowest speaker basket.

Dude what drugs are you on man. I had focal 165k2p's in the front doors with a 15mm space and they never hit the window or anything and they were still behind the factory grills. Now i have custom fiberglass door pods. The focal's have a mounting depth of 77mm so they are one of the deepest speakers going around.

If you make MDF spacers, make sure you paint them in water proof paint, to try and stop the swelling that happens from the moisture that gets in the door.

GRU53M. if you have 15mm spacers thats why. try mounting them in there without the spacers and see how much clearance you have. how did you see the clearance anyway?

Here is a prime example of MDF swelling.

Even taking out the 15mm for the spacers your still have around 2" to play with and there are heaps of speakers around that size.

care to explain why i had a set of mb quartz that hit on the windows then? if there is so much room like you think there is. had other speakers in there over time too. not sure if any others hit as it has been a while.
