quite expensive for personal imports

Most people who have ek9's either owned it personally or used the victoria rebuild scheme.

EP3's are different i think cause of compliance n stuff and also most of the ep3's are UK spec.

It'd be best to talk to a car import place IMO

a bit off topic..

my mate bought a nissan skyline R34 GT-t for 15k fully complianced and registered in vic.. it was thru a person who imported cars.

im just trying to think outside the box..

but thing is how do you know of the history of the imported car, its based on luck..

Risky.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts rawr.

R34 GT-t is in the SEVS list, so you can import it easily, modified to meet ADR and then registered. With EK9, it needs to be a private import or a rebuild (not sure if this loophole is still around though)

rebuild scheme from my knowledge is gone.. i think

private import is still available but you need to have owned the car for a certain amount of years

ill let you guys know the figures when my mate gets back to me just for the import.

peace.

do you guys think its worth the trouble?

i think ek9 CTR is roughly 10-15k US?

for a facelifted EK9 in good condition(from photo's and kilometers) i reckon you would be looking in the viscinity of 20k + or - 2k(correct me if im wrong)

Is it worth it?? if u have the cash and can afford it, go for it.

wasnt there one last time for sale that was advertised at like 27k? or something.

ek9 is a nice car but just go for the ep3 maybe? (unless u really want ek9 ).

Ive seen them for sale in Japan starting at 10k upwards for a preface, they're getting on now imo, most have over 150k on them. It couldn't be imported as the model wasn't significantly different from the Aussie Delivered variant. Hence why they wont let you import MR2 GTs, all of them are also personal imports just as an example.

They're a top car, but for the money asking there's a lot you can also buy IE. a DC2R, DC5

ok this has been covered many many times over the last few years... search and you'll get the same answer...

only way to get an ek9 ctr is either personal import or buy one already in australia. the ones that are here already were either personal imports or brought in during the vic rebuild scheme was around as someone mentioned (pre 2001-ish i think). as for price, there are only a handful of them in the country (i'm guessing less then a dozen) and they'll cost what people are willing to pay for them. imo, they'll go for anywhere between $20-$30k... you're paying for rarity.

anyway, i ain't selling mine for a long time so don't ask :p

all the extra bits that you get over the ek4 are great - recaros, carpet, mats, black interior (same as ek4), steering wheel, cf looking bits, lip kit, no mouldings, darkened privacy glass (like tinted windows), 5 stud, bigger brakes etc etc... and of course the slightly different and more powerful b16b engine.

personally, as a daily driver it's not very different to an ek4... but pushing it hard, it definitely feels quicker especially at the top end. also body feels stiffer, as my mates ek4 tends to feel like it flexes when going up driveways n stuff (but then again i have extra bars in the rear).

at the end of the day it's what you're after... performance wise, a well tuned ek4/eg or similar car would eat my ek9 anyday. an ek with stock ek9 kit would look exactly the same... but personally i just love the ek9 as a package, and being so rare is what i love... oh, and it's barely lost it's $$ value since i bought it way back in 2000

yeah, something like that... it also has at least 3 extra bars (that i know of) - lower rear sub-frame tie bar (think that's what it's called ) and both front and rear rebars, they sit just inside the bumpers across the chassis... duno if they do any "stiffening" tho, lol.

if you got the money and your dead serious about it, do what Spoon-Accord said. however u need to get someone with a cams license to bring the car in.

however still with that kind of money your looking at some well tuned dc2's and stock dc5s
