You'll get heat soak with that filter esp.in summer and bumper to bumper traffic.

whats heat soak?

sucking in hot air since the engine bay's so hot and there isn't any insulation between the intake n engine bay.

would a normal short ram intake like AEM or HPS racing or a K&N podfilter get this problem too?

SRI = yes. since they sit inside the engine bay. however you can get SRI with a box that isolate intake from the engine bay can resolve this problem. Such as the J's Racing carbon intake, Gruppe M carbon intake. They are uses short ram intake like k&n pod filter with a carbon box to separate the intake from engine bay.

im thinking i might wanna change my CAI to SRI and DIY a box, and then have air fed into the box. would this be more effective than a CAI ?

In this pic there is a black std pipe under the green air filter, they have connected a cold air pipe to it by taking off the air reserve box behind the fog light cover!!!

aaronng

Very nice of Tougetune to take the time to do it for him. How much was installation, if you don't mind me asking.

BusterSonic12
01-06-2008, 06:33 PM
wow shit!! $450 + $150 = $600 o.0

how's the gain on it? just like any other short ram intake? or is it seriously something different? man that's not cheap

Jaso

Wow...ripped off LOL >_<

How much of a difference does it make? Isnt that setup illegal/defectable in nsw...doest the pod have to be completely sealed?

Crapdaz
01-06-2008, 09:34 PM
HOLY MOLY AGAIN!!!

$450 FOR THE TAKE AND $150 FOR INSTALL.....
could have gone for a cheaper SRI take then install you could have done it easily by yourself and save like $200-250.
But good on you, better to have enclosed due to heatsoak as i found it very inconsistent even though you have force feed piping.

What the difference from stock with that intake in your opinion?

johnprocter

sound lol ^_^

sound lol ^_^

cai sound is alot smoother than sri ones though, thats what i've found.
but its a sponge filter not a pod filter do they have a different noise?

Isn't it $100 for CF and $300 for brand? :p

Crapdaz

lol actually the normal non-cf intake cost like 790 while cf cost 990
so its 200 for the CF, and 300 for the brand and 500 for the intake.

but in conclusion aaron is right :p

aaronng
05-06-2008, 10:16 AM
The intake itself is actually $300. My apexi intake which is similar was only $260 locally purchased.

Imagine if it was gruppeM.
Intake $300
CF $200
Brand $500

LOLOL

enkay
05-06-2008, 10:28 AM
haha yer tru aye, hm so with other ones then its 300 for intake and 200 for brandin =P

That's why the Ghetto™ brand is good. It only costs zero dollars. Has zero desirability though. :p
