Hi there, this is my first time/post on this forum, but from what I've been reading you guys seem pretty cool . I bought my 5 speed Civic Sport in 2007 after trading in my VT Clubby on it - quite a leap in power! However, overall I'm thrilled with my little Civic, but of course there's always room for those personal touches :D. Apart from fixing the horrible gaps on the front grill with some mesh, I found the long shifter quite uninviting and needing some serious adjustment - so I shortened it!! Looks and feels sooooo much better and was so easy to do :). Anyone else feel the same way? Also, I'd like to do a few mods to increase the KW, but so far found little worth spending my money on. Sure I can do the exhaust, CAI, and retuning the engine, but I'm not convinced the gain would be worth the $$ Anyone done some mods with a real gain to show for it? Cheers, Fab

The base of the shifter will just pull out along with its silver housing - best way to do this is by pushing against the base of the boot until one side releases. Now you can unscrew the knob and remove with the boot/housing attached. You'll see a blastic tie inside, cut it to release the boot and remove the plastic round silver unit at the base of the knob - that's what makes it so long! Replace the boot (but don't clip it down yet), screw back on the knob - the tighter the lower it will go. Pull the boot/housing up against the knob fairly tight, exposing the underside, secure it with tape/tie, pull it back down, clip it in, and there you have it! Looks great, feels much "sportier" to drive. email me at fabrizio23@bigpond.com for some pics, I'm not sure how to use a URL to post the pics. Cheers, Fab
