Hey guys, just another noob question, what does a camber kit actually do, what benifits are there and why do people fit them on?
thanks.

it adjusts the camber.
+- wateva tickles ur fancy..
depends what ur after..
lowered cars tend to have negative camber which takes a toll on the tyres.. (the insides)
and yeah.. camber kit gives u the freedom in most cases to pull the camber back out to neutral.. more flat.. for more even tyre wear..

and i think some ppl might enjoy the negative camber.. for handling and track circuit.. but i dont know anything about that.

yep negative can help on track, depending on the overall balance of your car, driver ability blah blah blah.
negative camber produces more front end grip on initial turn in i believe,im certainly no suspension expert though.
however,if you truly track your car to the point where you want to dial in negative camber, you dont just want whatever camber you are left with because you have lowered your car (which changes the angles of all your suspension arms, which results in changed camber - negative camber in this case - so the top of your wheel is more tilted in toward the car than the bottom of your wheel is)...if you truly track, you want to be able to adjust these camber settings to what handles best.
honda camber kits are usually replacement control arms for the rear, and replacement upper wishbones for the front, with a slot in them to adjust the position of the balljoint, this adjusts what angle your wheel will sit on,this angle is called your camber angle.....an eibach adjustable camber wishbone is shown below

some cars come with camber adjustment ability as standard, through the design of their suspension....civics and the like do not, therefore we need to buy these arms (camber kits) to be able to adjust it
one of my mates used camber kits on his eg,he complained that the balljoint/adjustor would move over 10000kms or so on the street,so your wheel alignment would be out after that time.
note-----alot of people use them on the street to correct your camber back to stock angle, which stops the inside of your tyres wearing hellllllllla faster than the rest of the tyre

In laymans terms.
Negative camber is when the top of the wheel is sloped inwards.
Looks cool, helps with the corners at the track, but decreases the ability of your straight line braking.

is the only way to correct camber with a camber kit?
does/would wheel alignment do anything to correct this?

there's only so much they can do to correct your camber after fitting coilovers.. i can vouch for the buddyclub camber kits from jdm yard.. it's the sh*t! i bought it to correct my rear camber back to neutral and more at the front.

our suspension arms dont give us anywhere to adjust camber.
so you get the camber kit (basically replacement suspension arms that allow you to adjust the camber), and then you go get a wheel alignment and the camber can be corrected

Neg camber rocks!
Think about what happens to a car when it turns. All the weight is on the outside wheel, right?
/ / ------ \ \ <----- That is Negative camber.
When you turn right, the car leans left. So negative camber allows full contact area with the left tyre on the ground, and the right tyre will not contact the road as much with not as much neg camber. Does that make sense.
If your tyres are rolling under the rim a little, and if you corner too hard... then only the outside part of the tyre is contacting the ground - this will induce UNDERSTEER.
To balence it out... you can play with camber - making it more negative (More slope inwards), which will allow for more tyre contact on the outside wheel / tyre on turning. This will also stop it from understeering.

Camber kit is defanetly worth it if you whant to correct your camber from lowering or whant 2 change you alignment.. as most civics and integras have no adjustment.. very good mod :D has helped me produce some great lap times since i was last at the track :D :p

Would anyone know where to get both front and rear camber kits installed?
Pedders is charging 560 for fitting.

i bought a set of 'jdm spec' ones from the states off ebay (front and rear) and my mech fitted them for under $100....i think the kit itself was $180...stuff pedders find a local mech that knows what to do
