How often do you guys get your valve lash adjusted?
And if you go to a shop - how much do you pay?

says every 40k to be "checked/adjusted". I havent heard of any mechanics doing it to any car at any time tho ( includes the known Honda professionals lol) - and it took alot of convincing to do it. $50 would be about right. Make sure you have the correct lash specs , and that you do it to a COLD engine.

^Yeh im aware it must be done at cold.
Ben from Touge Tune wanted $150 to adjust - and he's dirt cheap.
My dc2r has a nice clangy sound, so im not to fussed about parting with the $150.
Anyone have any other experience?

Valve lash adjustment is not that uncommon at all... (& not just speaking for myself)
As this is set~adjusted on any cam change.
Often set or adjusted when setting cam timing to achieve correct figures.
Also often adjusted when tuning & seeking to eliminate false knock etc.

yup agree with the above - its necessary when modifying and engines upper head comes into play. But normal everyday motors or stock motors seem to be pushed to the back , when it comes to this "needed" check once in awhile.
Elwood just go get it done

$150 is a bit steep really.
it takes about 1 hour or less if you know what you are doing,a bit more time if your unfamiliar with it.
sure its a bit more difficult on our DOHC cam engines rather than most SOHC engines.
i would charge $50 for a friend and probably $100 tops for a customer....since thats all labour money going into your pocket as there are no parts or expenses whatsoever

15 mins tappet adjustment.gangsta as.easiest $100 that guy could ever make.
last time i did it i sliced my finger on the feeler gauge though,so maybe a lil of the cost can be written off as danger money lol

Steve... make sure you store the entire car in a cold box, frezze your VTAK, and then do it.
