Hi. New to the forum, but not to cars. Have an 05 CRV auto (5 speed) that shudders between gears. Dealership advised that trans oil burnt, needs changing (80k), but really not scheduled until 120k. Car has extended Honda warranty until March 2010. They would not do anything, apart from change the auto oil at my expense. QUESTION-any other recent 5 speed auto issues documented? I know the 00-03 V6 Odysseys had some major issues. Help please....

I'd prefer to change auto transmission fluid every 2 years than wait for 120K. Similar problem happened to our 94 Accord, back in 97!

Yea i had the similar problem. Bought the car from dealer, shutters from 1st to second gear. Told us it was low on transmission fluid, and we told em to fix it and we'll take it. they said they refilled the transmission fluid, but the car still shuttered "slightly". *i couldn't tell the difference as i wasn't there for inspection the first time to feel the shutter b4 'fixing'*

Anyway, i took it to my local mechanic, and he told me it was because the auto gear selector had some issue, either the solenoids were acting up and the gear pulley wasn't timed properly.

We have warranty on the gearbox from the dealer, and now my car is at their mechanics, *hopefully* getting fixed.

if it was my car i'd be doin the atf every 20k. while your model crv certainly isnt prone to any trans faults it certainly wouldn't hurt :)

and don't compare your car to v6 odysseys, it's like apples and oranges
