hey just wondering,

i know the injen cai (for ITR) will fit the b18b but will the larger piping diameter make the engine loose power? im looking to get an injen cai or my teg but its an itr one, would this be alright? please help!

best way is to check part no's. matching ones usually mean same piping, size etc...
and your probably posting int he wrong thread. has nothing to do with all motor.

anyone else care to share their knowledge!?

im also deciding whether to get a CAI or Short ram pipe..i was heading towards CAI but after hearing about mud getting into the intake and dirtying the engine ive been really hesitant...does this really happen or is it just a myth?

well i'm guessing the mud's supposed to be stopped by the filter
i've had mine for ages and haven't noticed any increase in dirt around the throttlebody

have to remember that the higher flow filters usually sacrifice filter effectiveness for higher airflow

and to answer the op's question, it shouldn't really matter since its going to be limited by the smallest part of the intake i.e. the throttle body itself
even if you whacked on a 100mm intake to your throttle body its only going to be able to go through at xxmm(whatever size your throttle body is)
anyone want to confirm or bust my theory?

Ì dont think a full length cai will fit as the position of the throttle and intake are slightly different on a gsi/vtir, meaning it may not line up with the throttle body and the whole in the chassis near the guard.

I think this is right, correct me if im wrong.

the only difference i know is the dize of the TB between GSi and DC2R.

the difference with the VTiR is that the TB is lower down due to the nature of the intake manifold (Dual runners)

so im almost 100% sure it will fit, but more to do with the sizing of the tubing will prob be different and will this cause a difference in performance?

it will fit

hes asking will it affect performance.. with air bottlenecking before it goes into the t/b

theoretically yes, as i have mentioned do you even know the difference in diameter of the two piping vtir vs itr? that will be your first clue.

2nd would length.

As you would be aware injen "apparently" engineers their intakes to each make/model.
including length and diameter taken into account.

do your research and find out

my friend had a cold air intake but on the odd occasion he had to drive through some puddles to get home. when he got home he noticed that his pod was soaked and water was built up in the splash tray. thats why im a bit hesitant to get a cai.
i asked my mate who also has a gsi and said that he didnt notice much of a difference. hope that helps mate
