Great write up Claymore!
Is it even possible to take out the alternator on a daily street car and use a 12/16 Volt battery?

i doubt it very much
unless you want to plug your car to a battery charger everytime you park it

Yes these batterys are good for that little less engine strain caused bu the altenator but this is good ONLY for a run or two down the 1/4, One thing not addressed above is current draw,You can have a battery that starts on 16 volts and lowers so theoreticly it will be able to run the engine for longer but that may not be true, from experience with batteries and stereos. you can use a 12v battery with a very high reserve capacity and it will last for a very long time with a sustained voltage, just my two cents

No Alternators only work for drag cars, real track cars, ie the circuit, need em :)
