Hi guys, i have a 1998 civic coupe VTI and am just wondering whether any of you guys who have installed a focal K2P think its possible for a noob to install it (Woofers are 77mm), i plan to sound deaden the doors and install the amp myself. I also believe i have to flush mount the tweeters somewhere, any suggestions from those who have an EK civic and the same speaker setup? I have installed a headunit and crimped wires, but don't have that many tools to work with, so will have to buy some if i do it myself (jigsaw etc, workbench etc.)
Considering i have to buy tools and stuff, do you think its better i go pro? Any estimates on price in melbourne? But i'd rather do it myself, get some experience and better equipment by saving on installation.
Thanks guys.

For the little bit extra get them installed by a focal dealer and get 3 years warranty. Normally for install you will be looking at between $80-$150

Thats not bad... But it would be much more for an installation with amplifier too right? Anyone know how what a good price for a pair of K2Ps are?

Focals RRP on the k2p's is $849 even tho the website says $899, as for the amp it all depends on what size wiring you get and where you want the amp installed, But anywhere between $200 and $350 should cover.

Thanks 52GRUM.
I want to flush mount the tweeters though, that would be more expensive right? The focal tweeters are too bright due to offspill or something like that according to their website. Think i would install the amplifier myself, from what i've read so far, does'nt seem too hard, its the speaker placement and getting a good seal on the speaker with sound deadening too to create good midbass thats hard and thats what i want professionally done.
Hope to hear from anyone with a pair of K2Ps and a honda civic... on what they did...

Well i have 2 sets in my car and i don't think there to Bright for my tastes.
And normally flush mounting them or using the angle cups is the same price where i work.

Thanks 55SEXX! You did all that yourself? I don't have the tools for that!
I think i'll put them in the kick panels when i get the speakers, still in the planning stages.
Thanks guys!

Thanks guys... so i reckon in the kick panels is the way to go... I'm still a long way from the job citing financial reasons... How much RMS power can these speakers take given their RMS is 100w, Should i just get a 100 RMS x 2 amp or one that does more and tone down the power on the amp itself? I heard these focals are good with power...

Might consider the a pillars though i want something thats easier to cover up when i sell the car... Might just buy a cheap set of splits and cover the hole...

damm striaght they love power! i ahve focals in my car and they love the power that my 4ch amp is going to be utilised (active/semiactive) to run just the focals only (and my amp is rated at 4x75WRMS while the birth certificate is 4x90WRMS) just make sure u give it good high quality power and they will come alive!!!

it was what was best to my ears and my tweeters. i would definately recommend playing with the position to find what you like best.

Looks fantastic 55EXX! i loved your old car! Saw the build... What happened to it? I can't DIY those pillars though, well if i did i think they would be shite... how much would it cost to do it by a pro?
Secondly, the new focals are 2 ohm, and i've been doing my reading, it means that i won't need as powerful a amplifier, but surely that would mean a decrease in quality, would it? Focal on their website say there won't be... what do you guys think? No doubt they will still sound fantastic.
Thirdly, is it better for me to go with the 165KR as it has a lower frequency response, 60hz vs 70 hz (for the 165KR2)as i am not gonna put in a subwoofer till much much later...

2 ohm just means there is less resistance and therefore will draw more power out of your amp. i would still get a bigger amp than needed to provide the headroom for transient peaks and avoid signal clipping. if you were to run a smaller amp it wouldn't mean it will sound worse. it will just not be as loud or as clear at loud volumes as the signal gets clipped by the amp failing to produce the power needed.
as for speaker let your ears decide. can't go wrong with what sounds best!
prices for pillars i can't answer you'd have to ask shops near you.
