Good Find!!!

Sounds kinda scary, and very contradictive to what many other people/ articles say.

LOL I was going to post that link in my original post!

I would prefer if someone else tried it first then posted up the results... ;)

Has anyone here tried any of these methods?

How did you break in your engines?

Any regrets/things you'd change/ recommendations?

Tried it. It's good. Just follow the instructions and make sure the engine is warm before doing hard driving. Engine warm = twice the time it takes for coolant temperature to reach the middle.

thats a great website and is very informative on how to break in an engine.

Just need alot of load so you dont glaze your bores. e.g. up hills in low rpm

Search function doesn't allow for any words with less than 3 letters to be included in the seach, thus making it difficult to find a topic when the word 'in" is a vital word.

The other reason I started a new thread is that the engine is brand new and includes cylinder deactivation which may or may not require a different approach to running in.

Anyway, thanks for the links

"In" is not really a vital word because in a thread, there will be many sentences using the word "in". So including in would mean including every thread on this forum. I searched for "running engine" and "breaking engine". Surprisingly, breaking engine didn't really show up many blown engine threads. LOL. Yeah, the 4 letter limit is troublesome. But you can get around it by adding an asterisk at the end "*".

cheers,

Mototune's method. During dynodays in Melb and Sydney, I made more power than a few DC5Rs. BTW, my mods are listed below in my sig.

I tested this method of my Jazz which I got in 2003 though, can't really say good or bad, but my car still drives fine and still responsive like usual. Even I've done 140,000kms in 5 yrs too. Will use the same breakin method once I get my new car.

However friends in WRX's have tested this method and claims that it is much better than the usual "drive it slow" break-in method.
One of their test was, under normal break-in the oil consumption / loss per 1000kms was much more than using mototune's method.

However if your a bit worried or skeptical, as what aaronng says, warm up your car sufficiently before doing so......
