View Full Version : How to replace HID bulb?

the right hid bulb of my car died. how do i replace it? if i buy just the bulb itself and plug that in would that work? or do i have to rewire the whole thing?

you can just replace the bulb..

yep similar to how you replace normal bulbs. take it out and replace.

so it's just the bulb eh? what about the wires? can i use the old wires from the old bulbs?

if it's your old bulb that dead, should be ok using old wire, just change the bulb (for hid) and it works.. if not, maybe ur balast or wiring got some problem..

the bulbs just plug in, there isn't any wiring unless your talking about the wires to the balast.

yeah.. doesnt the old plug has wires to the ballast? or those wires can be unplugged from the bulb?

its how you would change a normal bulb dude.

take it out and have a look.. its more simple than you think..

if that dont work.. like i siad something else is wrong.

IF the bulb is the issue ~ as stated above its easy fix. Get a replacement globe of your K rating ( anything , they are universal) just make sure its a H4 , and either single beam or low/hi depending on your setup.

Make sure not to touch the globe prior to install too. Be careful

do i need to disconnect the battery when I take out the old bulb and put the new bulb?

unless they've made HID bulbs for H4 hi beam now... they should only be one.. for low beam.

unless you have the HID mechanism that flicks a reflector up and down for the high beams

but yes As Far As I Know.. they've made the HID BULBS H4 only one Beam.. no high beam.
