Im after suggestions/opinions on what twin or single (no larger than 3" on a single tip catback)

CD5 catbacks are known to improve performance as well as look neat,

like they should on an Accord imo.

(I also don't want a loud system, but one that does improve performance)

So are there any off the self catbacks that suit my needs?

If so brands & pic's would be much appreciated.

Or should I go custom with a muffler/tip combination that I like, and what size

piping should I fit 2.25 2.5 etc?

(With plans of H22a or K24 coversion in mind in the late future).

Lastly I don't mind the factory single Euro muffler/tip (obviously using only 1 of the 2)

Would the factory Euro muffler hurt performance or is this a good option?

if you want to do H22 or K24 conversion later on, 2.5 is a good size.

thing with OEM exhausts are that they're very restrictive.

but if you hunt around japs exhaust brands, I'm sure there will be one making for CD5.

OBX racing DTM (will change tips to non angular one's)

Has anyone got one of these systems fitted to there car? If so please give feed back...

I'm leaning toward the pacesetter or OBX as I like the twin tip style C/B,

but if one of the single tip C/B's are going to provide more performance,

and possibly quieter than than the twin tip C/B's I would like to know.

Brand & style aside... which one would you guys pick?

well i went around and got a few qoutes on saturday last week with teh same
idea in mind but i already have the axel back muffler...

what u have to work out is

resonator no reasonator
performance or looks or both

looks always ends up cheaper cause they use press bent pipe
but it will be sh!t on the CD5 cause it has a nasty 90degree just after the
resonator...

so MANDREL is the only way to go on the humble CD5

3 joints i went to

$120 probably press bent didnt ask about mandrel 2.25 or 2.5 system
$150 press bent or $200 Mandrel but would have to order bends in this joint was trying to do a 2inch system btw......
$300 Tig welded, Mandrel, and most likely a dyno run... - 2.5inch system

all prices do not include a muffler

add at least $120 for a decent muffler....

My car is going into exhaust shop 2moro... quoted $250 for 2" catback..including installation of my DC5R muffler...Although....the guy @ the place highly disagreed with the installation of the DC5R muffler, stating that all oem mufflers are just to restrictive.( which is true).... i just couldnt hack paying $900 for axle back Remus twin tip exhaust..(which is what i would get if i had the money).....

But in my case.. i'm just looking for a quick fix..as my rear muffler has rusted out.. and is literally about to break apart at the inlet of the muffler.....

hopefully for the price i pay, it will be mandrel bent.. i'll check with him 2moro...i'll let u guys how it goes.. (although im not expecting much of a performance gain)..

and btw... 2.5" system on a h22a powered cd5.. is just slightly to big... u will prolly loose some low end. and everyday drivability wont be as nice... unless you plan on working on the h22a.. a stock h22a with a 2.25" is more then capible. But of course if your a rev head.. then 2.5" is well suited in da vtec range =D

DC5R mufflers cant be that bad.... of course all oem mufflers are restrictive
but meh having an integra muffler would have to differ in performance as
opposed to what you may already have also sound...

you removing the mufflers and res? i dunno whats on a CB7 sys

also i dont have H22 but i do rev hard lol many time...
is was the joint that recommended keeping the cat back the same size as the
muffler inlet other wise u getnoise where warm air meets cold and expands
causing it to bounce back...
usually occurs on the down revs

CB7 is identical to CD5...like i think 90% of everything is similar...perhaps even higher percentage... apart from the body shape of course...if you removed the shell.. i doubt u'd be able to tell the difference between a Cb7 and Cd5... apart from looking at the engine bay..Exhaust is ssame.....goes header-flexpipe-cat-b pipe+resonator+axle back...

As for the noise, where war air meets cold air...( must only be wen the car is first started up.. cause after that.. the system is goner be warm from start to tip).......as for my job...

best case scenario: $250 includes 2" stainless steel mandrel bent catback tig weld + flanges + new resonator + attachment of my dc5r muffler + new chrome tip.

worst case scenario: $250 includes 2" mild steel normal bending..

I only talked to the guy for about 5minutes.... didnt precisely what the $250 included... although he did say...from cat back.. new resonator...didnt mention the material he is using...or technique of bending.

i had 2.5 custom stainless on mine, and i reckon it was the best choice i've made

just pick a muffler you like and your done :)

theres a link there to some clips of my accord with the setup

hope you like it

What muffler are you using Spoon-Accord?

If I go the custom route I will probably get a dual tip Magna flow muffler.

Also is there any difference in sound (muffler aside) if using a non stainless steal?

I don't want it to be loud... just a nice note with no droning.

Any advice people's?

k went to the muffler shop booked it in and everything on my saturday morning
i had a second hand muffler i wanted put on btw

left it there, they cut it off and sized it up

then they call me

look mate we cantr do it, too many bends
nothing lines up...
hangers in wrong spot...
will sit too far back...

all this other sh!t

anyways it was all lies...

went back to a mates got it up on ramps... the muffler was an oval
just like the OEM one, same width, 10mm bigger in height, and 70mm shorter in length...

so it was not too big....
i was getting a cat back system made up in 2.25" asked why they just cant
extend the pipe.... oh no too much fkin around ok.... all the while im thinking
to myself its this is an exhaust shop....... all in all just too lazy to do the job
and possibly because they didnt make a sale on a muffler because i BYO'd.

sigh anyways never got it fitted i also asked about getting mandrel bends
they basically just laughed about it and said its not worth it i'll get minimal
gains im like ok a friend of mine got 25% gain in his lancer.... so nvm imma
try sumwhere else

Got my DC5R muffler fitted. lines up perfectly.. orignial hangers.. were slightly tooo long so he chopped it a bit... and re welded the inlet to the 2inch.... new hotdog resonator... now it sounds better then stock... pretty happy.... but no performance gains..

At the end of the day if you have the money for branded stuff go for it - but a custom made one will still do the job just fine - dont think you want to go over 2.25 as there is not pwr gain from 2.5, if you do, its just noise not much pwr difference. 3.0 is for more Forced induction
