Hi all
My dc5r has a strange vibration sound when accelerating/cruising in all gears, around 2000-4000rpm. Most of the time its there, some times you cant hear it.
Done a search and alot is said abt pinging, could this be it? what is pinging?
I use vpower. no mods excepts injen CAI. 60k on the clock. Any ideas? thanks in advance guys

It's most probably a loose exhaust.
Could be many things though.

Its definitely coming from the front of the car though...more specifically, the engine..annoying the hell out of me now.

im not familiar with the injen CAI if it is like the plazaman set up the welds can break on the mounting points which can cause a nasty sounding vibration, worth checking incase it is

The sounds been there before i installed the injen, so not sure that that could be it..and i made sure the injen was secured on tight too..thanks for that idea tho mate

as above
Have you been hard launching ? Might be a bad/broken engine mount
also , do you have aftermarket suspension or springs ? something might be loose.

does it sound like metal vibrating? or like something hitting ( made from rubber)?

sounds like it might be the CAI itself making the noise. It is held in place properly?

nope, havent launching, just normal cruising. For example just this morning on the way to work, i was just cruising, i found that when i rev a bit harder, say close to 5000rpm, the sounds gone.
and nope i dont have suspensions or anything. only mod ive got is the cai

yes! it sounds like metal vibrating against something. I removed the engine cover (that plastic thing with the vtec logo on it) and the sound is still there

Do DC5R's have a header heat sheild??
If they do... tighten it up, and get under the car and make sure all the exhaust bolts are tight... then try it.
It coulddd also be a blown/loose mid-resinator in the B-Pipe.
Unlikely engine Ping would sound like that.

awesome, thanks for confirming that its unlikely to be pinging. was worried there. I'll get home tonight and check the exhaust bolts are tight
