Hi all,

I have recently bought a brand new Honda Civic Sport 08 model (two days old) and I love it. Never driven a car with a VTEC engine, although I did have an EVO IX for half a day but now I have switched sides to Honda from Mitsubishi.

My question is what type of Engine Oil is suitable for the car? Which is the best oil to use to lesses wear and tear and provide the best lubrication and performance (performance in terms of providing minimal engine wear)

If possible could anyone suggest what type of coolant and engine transmission is best as well?

I'm looking at trying to maintain the car for as long as possible

Thanks.

Mick

Just go with Honda oil from your dealer, its not too expensive.

I use Mobil 1 fully synthetic if your looking for performance

You can use 0w-30, 5w-30, 10w-30, 0w-40, 5w-40 or 10w-40 oil. I am currently using Elf 5w-30.

just use feo and follow the replacement schedule (every 10k with optional change every 5k)

my dealer uses Castrol Magnatec which they believe is a grade higher than the standard Honda one.

They're very picky about which oil they use tho. I offered to bring in my own bottle of Motul oil and asked them nicely to use it instead. but they just refused to do it.

It is because they make good margins if you use their oil. :)

Follow the Honda schedule & use their mineral oil, at least for the first 5000Km to make sure your engine runs in properly first before switching to fully synthetic. Also make sure they change the oil filter every time they change your oil. Hope this help
