Can't be imported unless it is a private import or imported for track use only, using a CAMS license. The reason is because of the EK4 VTIR sold here.

There's a few floating around.
Some JDM DC2Rs as well...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only way is to do a personal import, but you have to have owned the car in Japan for 1 or 2 years

there were a few come through VIC using a loop hole.. but im pretty sure theyve fixed that. there are a few floating around go for around 18k and are usally snapped up pretty quickly.. there are alot of replicas floating around so ur probably better off looking for them!

loop hole doesnt work when your getting your car registered in Sydney.
its really strict and unless its a personal import, you wont get a ek9 street registered in Sydney.

Been thinking about getting an EK9 myself, by getting a fren who lives in HK who is an Aust citizen. Car cost about $80K HKD so $11K plus a year of parking expense, rego, compulsary 3rd party insurance before the freight and tax when it arrives in Aust. Would cost me $20-22K landed.

would be a great daily car yet a rare genuine EK9 in aust.

just gotta say. we have all been there and done that. basically everyone in this forum has thought about owning one and at some point and gave up. its just too hard to get one legit and costs too much money. so legit ek9 in aus= fail unless daddies paying 20gs for u.

How bout.... Duck over to NZ, purchase your dc2r, or your ekR, then ship it over to Australia. someone there will sign you a dodgey receipt saying you purchased it 1 year ago.
private import. or even arrange with someone in nz to ship the car over for you.
You'll be plesantly suprised with the prices

do you get investigated for doing it, or when you go to get it registered they just plainly say 'no'?

If I were to buy an EK9. I would want it as stock as possible to keep it authentic. Otherwise, it just looks like evry other riced civic!
