Hey why don't you guys bring back the spotted thread?

It was a good way to get to know members that were around your area.. beep wave and socialise.. know a member by their car not their username.

Like it was originally taken down to stop thieves from getting ppls cars jacked.. and so on..

Since the spotted thread being removed plenty of cars have been stolen..
off the top of my head i can already think of 4..

eg k20
eg b16
dc2r k20 or k24 wateva it was
new civic type R with those goodies stolen
and afew dc2r's

and before the spotted thread was taken off.. there was the standard theft rate.. (wateva that was)..

no way you could even blame the spotted thread for any car being stolen..

i dunno just a suggestion.. it gets kinda boring on the forums.. lol spotted thread might bring the spice back into it!

To some it might just be a useless thread...? but to some its putting usernames to faces/cars?

i know it might make moderating abit more work.. but maybe you can lay down some rules?

dont spot someone where its always parked..work place or home etc etc?

and relax it's just a suggestion.. no need for stupid comments.. or smartass remarks! stay on topic fockers!

you put abit of effort there -

its pretty much official....all cars mentioned have no relevance to the spotted thread. None stolen are really active members on this forum...if anything each was an isolated thing/situation.

But , we arent bringing back the spotted thread. There was rules set down , and now we have crossed that bridge and wont be back.

I say have more meets like the old days ( circa 2005/2006). I know the userbase has changed but there is still friendly people out there that like to meet up. Expand the usernames to faces and meet and greet.

What do you mean? set rules for what though?

is there a reason why its officially taken off for good?

just wanna know that is all...

lol what gets me goin is that it was taken down because of (reason1)

and its not going back up because of (reason2)

if you get what im getting at?

lol.

fair enough your forum, your rules..

all good.

general rules ~ same as we added for the "past events/gallery section" (not to post up pix of cars with number plates etc) (thread is long gone lol)

A spotted thread , would include a post/s such as

" spotted - a black DC2r with nice TE37s' , number plate 12NV around Lurgano area..."

its a exact description + number plate advertising a cars possible mods and possible daily location/area. Plus a number plate = your cars night time address. All it takes is a mate in the RTA.

So , a whole thread full of posts like this and its better off not having.

*EDIT* Its basically prevention of theft :)

dupac->

didnt prevent anything.

cars still got stolen..?

haha dw.. if thats final then its final..

all good.

Lol. It did prevent something. Cars got stolen that havent been spotted before , and that arent actual Ozhonda members. So removing the spotted thread , prevented Ozhonda cars from getting stolen.

Well we will never actually know lol. The idea is to prevent in everyway we can. Dont you agree with this ? OThers out there ?

Yeah i agree with what you're saying NOW

lol

If a member posts pictures of their car with their own number plate, thats their choice and they are running the risk.

The main problem is when you post number plates of others.

Valid pt.

Spotted thread is gone for good guys, so lets move on!

Regarding the forum visibility, lets make it so that only members/newcomers have rights to view these forums.

Shouldn't we still think about the protection of our members?

The spotted thread did no harm and it obvious it didn't lead to any thefts. It created a stronger community and allowed for socialising.

It had no negative effects

How do you know it did no harm?

Even if it didnt do any harm, there is potential to do harm, and its been decided that the thread will be gone permanently. There is no way its coming back

There is potential that meets could lead to thefts, cruises lead to crashes

you gonna ban them too?

There hasn't been a single car that has been spotted that has been stolen.

All cars stolen in the past few weeks weren't in the spotted thread. Most aren't even active members on the forum

Its about prevention,
We (ozhonda), are not gonna wait until someones car gets jacked b4 removing the spotted thread.
Its gone for good, due to prevention.

Re: meets, ozhonda does not hold meets, the members do.
Members simply use ozhonda as a medium to communicate these meetings.
This is the reason why theres no official Ozhonda meets/cruises.

Guys, I can't speak for anyone other than myself here but I would not like people 'spotting' me when I am parked at different locations. If I wanted people to know where I parked my car daily I would start a thread and let everyone know where it is parked and what I have done to it. The problem with the 'spotted' thread - It is not the owner that is posting rather other members of the public ( and the owner has no say over this ).

The spotted thread too is nothing but using ozhonda as a medium to communicate with other members.

The people who are defending the spotted thread believe you have nothing to prevent.

hello, i was a fan of the spotted thread coz u could always see who lived around your area what not, and if you spot a car always cool to see if their a member on here, i made 3 ozhonda friends using that thread, and since then have only made e-buddies, imo it looks as though since the thread went down, more cars have been stolen, and seriously if people wanna steal cars, they go 2 appearance gallery and steal those ones, not browse a spotted forum which was primarlily of like 10 people constantly spotting eachother anyway, IN CONCLUSION, i think it was a cool way 2 interact with other ozhonda members coz u no, "i saw your car" "yeh i saw yours to!" cool u work around there?" "yeh" "i''ll pop in and say hi next time" or something like that is how i became friends with 3 ozhonda memberS!!!

its a majority Vote guys. Plain and simple. It isnt coming back. It is prevention of possible future crime and most people dont like being "spotted" - for this exact reason...

" spotted - a black DC2r with nice TE37s' , number plate 12NV around Lurgano area..."

FYI Q_ball , the gallery IS currently viewable ( only THUMBNAILS) by guests. I have chatted with Wynode about it and he is seeing what he can do ( its an issue with vB - usually you can make a forum PRIVATE but it dosent work this way)

I think theres a way to make the whole site unviewable unless you're a registered user - they did that with JDMST.
Good idea imo... but yeh, we talk further :)
