I have a 2000 Civic Coupe GLi which is powered by a D16Y engine with an automatic gearbox. I am seeking more power for the car and unfortunately I don't exactly have the biggest budget.

I called up Online Performance in Hoxton Park, NSW and was advised that it would cost me around $7,000 for a B16A half cut from Japan with an automatic gearbox fitted into my car. I have been told that the cheaper option is to just put extra money into the current engine however I'm not too keen on that idea as it has done over 180,000 kms.

I would like to keep the car being an automatic but if the cheapest option is to convert it to a manual then I'm more than happy to do so.

What do you think my best option is?? Does anyone know how good a B16A would perform with an automatic gearbox??

have different cams and stuff(I THINK).. but yeah auto b16a would be a nice daily? cheaper option of course would be a manual b16a you can probably get that isntalled for around 3k with a backyard specialists. hope that helped.

yea source the motor yourself
theres a few selling on these forums, going from 2-3k
and just find yourself a auto gearbox
probably rare as, but there are some out there.

i saw one on this forum selling for 250 bucks before.

i though 2000model coupes were EM1 which were b16a manuals...
are you sure yours isnt a hatch back?

well anyway sell your car and add 7k and you'll get a heaps better car

GLi coupes were the lower model import compared tot he EM1s.
what exactly are the differences between auto b16 & manual? i kind of want to put one in my ek sedan as a daily auto.

So i heard that the auto b16a was detuned so the gearbox could handle the engine(or some reason like that)... im wondering if i put intake headers and exhaust on an auto b16a would this be bad for the gearbox aswell?

is there a reason your tied to the auto?
seems like for 4k you could have a b16 manual installed assuming you get an ok deal on the manual conversion stuff.
I personally just sold EVERYTHING required to convert an eg9 auto to manual for 600 including delivery. other then the engine swap you should really only need the pedal box, and clutch hydraulics and I wouldn't think that they would cost more then say 300.
