this may help a few people, duno if its just me but figured it would be a common problem for guys with lowerd suspension.

as i mentioned in the camber kit thread, i had a chronicly bad rattle from my rear end and i couldnt work it out, went riding around in the car trying to find the noise pulled the thing apart suspension included, checked everything. till my mate said, man your exhaust bounces around alot over the bumps, after following me.

my car is verrrry low and very stiff, so i guess the stock mounts wernt cutting it, not to mention that honda only fitted two, one on each muffler nothing in the centre for vibrations. so the extra movement was making the muffler bounce and occasionaly hit the heat sheilding by the look of it.

now you could go high tech and get new brackets welded on and blah blah, but i dont have the time or motivation. i resort to wd-40(inox) and zipties.

2 zipties for each rubber mount , one around the centre to squeeze it, one around the loop section to hold it in tighter. little lube inside each hole to stop the squeaking noise on a cold morning. FIX! nothing, no more rattle, goneskies...

i will post a pic up if need be, but its simple it worked and im happy that stupid noise is gone.

hope this helps some people out :)

cheers

Nothing but a simple DIY fix, good job!

I don't know about your car but I know that each muffler on the Euro has got 2 hangers and the center section has another one.

What exactly did the rattle sound like? :)
was it pretty constant?

:) good to hear you fixed it

Be aware that this is a temporary fix....over time you will find that the zipties will break.

And probably melt as well, being near the exhaust. Better to use those metal braces

maybe in a few months they might break, ill replace them if they do there isnt a shortage on zipties. maybe ill fix it properly one day, i can weld and have all the gear, but im building other cars at the moment.

the mufflers do not get that hot its not a rotor or anything. after the cat, not much hot air flow is getting through. they wont melt. the rubber would get soft and maleable before the plastic melted through mate. get some nice thick ties

there may have been another mount that i didnt see, i dont know where its gone but its probably in the carpark of crown casino lol, and he told me they got lambos down there :p

the noise honestly sounded like a broken strut top rattling around in the tower, noisy over any bumps in the road. was constant over bumps, varying with size etc.

but fix it how you want, i dont mind, this is just somthing to help people that have an unusual rattle. rather than spend hours mucking around like i did, only trying to help :D
