hi guys,

does anyone know anything about putting a mod chip in a honda civic sport 2007 on a standard ecu or how it works

No such thing. The ebay ones are just resistors which trick the ECU into dumping more fuel into the engine.
You either get an interceptor, piggyback, full replacement or wait til Hondata releases their k20Z2 k100/kpro.

But even then aaronng, wouldn't that only improve performance if the owner mods the vehicle (i/h/e) and then had it dyno tuned using the ecu piggyback/replacement.

As in.. on a stock car it would do near little... tho the audm fd2 is a down tuned version of the jdm fd2... so myabe it would help a bit ?!?

uhhh ok i was talking to some people here and they recon that i might b able to pull out another 40 50kw if i get some mod chip that changes the setting to my computer

^ nah, you can forget getting that much improvment on ECU alone. My guess would be 5-10 kw if you're lucky.

Just don't get those 'performance chips' off ebay... they are just resistors as Aaronng said.

nuh no way there only like 50 bux i spoke to this machanic his chasing it up he recons about $500 and i just wanna find out how much power i would get out of it so i know if its worth waisting the money or not

Well... I can't tell you how much... but generally they are used to tune the engine after extensive mods have been installed... normally intake, headers and exhaust are the basic ones. Then the ecu can be tuned to make the most of those mods.

Generally, they're not much use by them selves... I *could* be wrong..

hmmm ill let u know what he say wen he tells me

he said his friend pulled out 50kw on a vtech by just giving it a tune

i find that hard to balive but thats what his been saying to me

I think if you have some mods it's gonna work much better, but as people above said, don't get ebay once, I heard lots of good things about unichip ecu piggybacks, they work well with I/H/E mods

No way can you get 50kW just from optimising engine tuning. You will need hardware... Hardware to improve breathing and to support a higher rpm limit.

Yup, not much to gain on a stock car. The only part that will give you more power is if you remove the safety margin that is in the conservatively tuned stock ECU. That is only a small gain.

Who were you talking too? Names! hehe.

Arronng is correct. it's not possible to get 50kw, or even 20kw, with a "mod chip", or full ECU.

The word Mod Chip reminds me of when we used to get a mod chip for Playstation and rip games LOL.

you need a turbo for 50kw+ bro, you friend is just exaggerating

you'll be lucky if you get 20/25kw+ from header, exhaust, intake and hondata

like he said. ECU only, looks like pointless.
but well, u can try mate. and let us know how it feel:D
FYI, FD2R mods chip, who know suit to ur FD2;)

That's a generic tune for the k20a used in the FD2R. The FD2 has K20Z2, not compatible. I doubt the engine will even idle properly with that ECU.

agree with aaronng... i saw this somewhere on Integra forum where a guy try to use a DC2R (K20A) ECU on DC5S (K20Z) and the engine wont even start :p

That one is different because he didn't get matching keys and immobiliser for the K20A ECU. In this case, the FD2R "mod chip" might let the car start (if he doesn't get an ECU error because of the different ECU map version), but what happens after that, I want to be there holding a video camera. heheheh
