hey guys my mate ask me a question and i honestly dont knw the answer.

His looking to buy a 93 model EG vti
155ks
no accidnet histroy
original colour (no resprays still to confirm)
everything stock except after market filter

the buyer has told my mate that he only had the car for 5 months and "lost his license"

the buyer originally stated he wants 5.5k but my mate has said i give u 4.5k and the buyer immediatly said ok come now and u can take the car away for 4.5k.. my mate is going 2moro to inspect the car and condition wif a mech i believe.

but question is 4.5k is worth it for a 93 model eg vti??

thoughts people and thank you

yes it is

most people want 5k for a base model breeze and about 7k for a vti/si

id do a REVs check if he is so keen to get rid of it

at very back of engine bay! is it the red one? with Si engine? becareful

his got an Si in an VTi, wouldn't perform as good as the vtec, Si > VTi, but Si in VTi (heavier shell), abit slower.. so something might have happened. or otherwise he like some DOHCness

DNT-CRY

Word.

If it's a VTI (check VIN's) and it has a DOHC ZC motor, resprayed front bar, don't touch it.

Even if it isn't listed as a repairable write off, that's ****ing suss.

so its a vti... with a Si motor.. with del sol fat five alloys... and bucket seats (DC2R?)

if those seats are authentic they are half of the 4k and the motor + alloys makes up the other half lol

yeah that looks a bit suss haha

definitely not dc2r recaros..

seems a bit suss.. it's either a vti with d16a conversion..
or an Si with sunroof..

also.. i thought vti's only came in 94/95?

thought all VTi comes with driver's airbag.

door trim not an Si item either, looks like the Gli item.

best to start with the VIN number, it could well be an EG4 ( ie JHMEG4xxxxxxxxetc ) with an Si twin cam engine. If the VIN is EG5 then it's either a Si or Vti. Don't go by the EG4/EG5 built date plaque on the rad support as that could be easily transfered between cars. And the comp plate assuming an aust delivered car will tell you the compliance date which is typically few mths after built date.

Those bucket seats appear to be those Just Jap Recaro Replica's

If it hasnt been in a major accident that is a decent bargain if FI

both SI and VTI are EG5xxx
CMIIW but DOHC si motor is older than VTI model which makes it illegal?

just becareful, maybe get a vin check, it looks to me its a VTi with a transplant, which i would not buy, chances are he has only listed the engine kilometres and the suspension has probably done like 300+ lol

Another good point.

GLI door trims as someone mentioned before..

So we have a Apparent VTI with a SI motor (illegal), GLI door trims, del sol 5s, and other random parts.

I recon it's a EG4 GLI with a Si motor swap, car's probably done 275,000 ks and is falling to bits mechanically, and ruff as hell.

Also had a front on (major), which could of well bought on the motor swap (You never know, that might of been why the motor was changed)

My crystal ball on the car.

Just deem it as an EG4 with factory fuel inj, provided the car is straight with no major prior accidents, and the sunroof is factory/properly install unit.....offer accordingly.

would still make a good basis for a project car with an engine of your choice.

when it sounds too good to be true it generally is.. my guess is its been in a front ender.. who in their right mind would sell a si for 5g's when people with breezes are selling them for that price?

anyone selling a breeze for 5-6k should be knocked out...

unless your gonna work this car up, suspension wise aswell as engine i would not bother, you will be looking at a fair few problems in the future.

i would keep saving if i was your mate, that way i have more to spend on maybe a better example of a eg.

iam 17 years old lol but ill tell you what i was just like this rushing in to any civic if it was SI or VTi then i sort of came back to reality and thought to my self..wait this is a old car, i have to check and do some research. Then i thought what do i want to accomplish for the car, this will decide on whether to get pos engine civic and do it up or do i want a good example for daily driver. Then next are the kilometers realistic and the body condition for a car this age...mine were not but i had log books to prove the low k's so yer. Then finally what was the character of the person who owned it and did they keep log books and shit like that. Mine was some chick who had log books and shit like that, however car was pretty dirty inside lol.

all these questions need to be asked before purchasing such and old car.
