Hi Guys,

I need to replace the tyres on my Dc5s, the OEM tyres
are Bridgestone Potenza RE050 on the car and I have been quoted $385 a corner. I use the car for work and I plan to take it to the track maybe twice a year.

Should I keep the same model tyre ?... or are there better, cheaper options that you have used?

Also I have looked into a Blitz induction kit ........ anyone got one used one before ????

personally i would save abit and look elsewhere, u can find the same branded tyres for cheaper. or buy decent dailys and buy another set of semis for track use.

a lot of good comments out there, and they are cheaper

When i was faced with the same problem i ended up going with re001, great tyre and i really can't fault them compared to the OEM tyre.

blitz make intakes for dc5's? never heard of that. i dont think u should bother though man. try and source out a 2nd hand injen or aem if ur strapped for cash. or do wat im doing.. buy an ebay intake pipe, k&n pod filter, heatshield, and heat-wrap the intake! hahah

i def wudnt buy them tyres for 385 per corner! just buy some el cheapos since u drive it slow with no spirited drving to work! and then wen u track buy some lightweight rims and some semis! and ur set bro

385 a corner wtf, you can get liek top of the range semi slicks for that money and still have enough to buy dinner to last you all week.

Blitz make 2 types, one with jsut a pod exposed and one wrapped in some weird head shield pod.

Check out hyper rev magazine, they have it in there.

lol soo truee.. just buy cheapos i rekn.. then wen u track save and buy some nicee lightweight rims with some semis yo :D

re00'1s in 205/45/16 go for like $170.....

Yeh the OEM tyres for the Type S (215/45/R17) are pretty exy. When I was looking I got quotes all over $300 a corner from Honda, and Bridgestone as well.
There are other alternatives which do not cost as much. There is a the new Bridgestone tyres or perhaps try another brand? Toyo, Pirelli, Dunlop etc.

would also suggest the re001, these can be had for $250 or less each in 215/45R17
i didn't bother buying the stock tyres, cuz got quote for that price for 215/45R17 too

gees man that is expensive. i saw kmart tyre & auto had the OEM tyres for $265 in a catalogue recently which isnt too bad!

how much life did you get out of the RE050's and were you happy with that?

since you're using the car for work mainly, other options might include some quieter and harder compound tires such as Yokohama C.Drives or Michelin Pilot Preceeda PP2

Another option if you're concerned about price but still want sportiness might be the Maxxis MA-Z1 (less than $200 per corner).
