Hey guys, I got a problem with my suspenion on my EK1.

It happened on the way I drive to Canberra.

Now, that suspension is soft (it's a 5kg/cm)

Can anyone tell me what is the problem with it, and if it's possible to get that fixed ???

Thx ~

Do you mean your suspension became soft suddenly? If yes, do you feel one of the problems below:

1) your car will go towards left or right if your hands off the steering wheel while the car is running slowly on a straight road

2) the car body, one side is higher than the other side

3) when driving on a roung road, you will feel you are sitting on a boat (bounce up and down while car is moving)

If your car has one or more of the problems above, it's probably one or more of the dampers has oil leakage which means it's time to change dampers.

It happened after I drove to Canberra from Sydney ...

in my last service my mechanic tightened that for me and while I was half way to Canberra, that part pop-up again

kenken : none of the above happened to me ...

u should have a metal washer that sits under the top hat somewhere (hard to describe) to prevent this from happening..

see how i have two washers before the top hat . yah, similiar thing. and they sit above the little groove on the shock shaft.

^^ yep as SIREAL said

you are missing one of the washers that prevent this from happening. without the washer the piston can come up as you have pictured.

haha, that's true, from the photo, the black plastic thing is missing at the top of the suspension head. You can either buy this from the dealer or ask the suspension seller and see if there is a metal one for your car.

For example, if you are using HKS, then ask the seller and see if HKS has this top for your car, if not, then you can still use the stock one which you can proabably order from the dealer (service center)

The part that must be missing is the gold coloured washer next to the bump stop on the right side of the photo. The inner hole of this washer has a taper that fits over the tapered step on the damper shaft.

You'd want to check over your car mate.
