Purchasing new headers guys, but still confuse in which one to buy.
The headers will be connected to a Mugen Twin Loop exhuast.
Want to see experienced Toda and Mugen headers user about their views on both headers and facts on performace differences!

thanks guys.

in the great header review test, the toda header was the best with hp gains and torque gains. go toda man. although mugen did have nice gains also

Mugen isn't Exxy?

I always thought Mugen was actually more expensive across the board. RRP that is!

hm..my friend told me Mugen is realli good on track, where as Toda is good for street.
Both i would be buying for the same price so yer...hahaha still choosing...

Umm.. didn't that data absoluteR paste tell you anything?!?!?!?!

I would just get Mugen headers to suit the Mugen exhaust, difference between the two probably isn't that huge and they seem to be similarly priced. If you get the Mugen you can have a full mugen exhaust from front to back.

toda hp 190,
mugen- 186.

i dont think power wise, one would be better for track n one for street. just a general difference, one has less hp. plus i think mugen is way more street, theres so much stuff for sale such as stickers, badges, fuel caps, wallets, pocket knives n so on. Toda on the other hand makes individual throttle bodies n stroker kits n rly no 'bling' accessories.

Imo toda is a racing bred company. Still i like muugen too

I have complete mugen system, 4-1 headders and twin loop, Im happy with the overall set up, good gains and is still street legal i.e. doesn't break 90db.

They do sit a little low so you need to be careful of speed humps etc.

If your car isnt lowered then mugen 4-1 should be a good setup other than that I recommend TODA.

Really... AWSOME! What's the point of Toda and Mugen etc headers then? If this is the case, i'll sell my Toda headers and opt for Xforce. Can anyone confirm if this is true... ;)

someone correct me if im wrong!

xforce may give similar gains if u only have bolt ons i/h/e, however toda will give better gains if u go further than just bolt ons, eg headwork

Toda tops the test ---> Best header to buy hands down.
Mugen still pretty good

Both definately > X-force...

So it also seems that mugen 4-1 sits pretty low compared to everything else. Damn, i just purchased a mugen and a spoon header...still waiting for arrival. i think i should sell the mugen one then....

The Mugen header wont sit too low, maybe your car is too low,lol :p

I'm using the JDM DC Sports 4-1 (rated a bit higher than Mugen on that header test, but waay cheaper) great ground clearance, good bang for your buck.

My car is stock height.. So the mugen wont sit too low?

Spoon SiRG
31-05-2008, 08:04 PM
If your car is stock height then you've got nothing to worry about. Just don't lower your car too much later on. If you've already ordered both,do a side-by-side comparison & choose which one you like better. You can't go wrong with Spoon & Mugen, they are both exclusive Honda tuners. Either way don't forget to get a 2.5inch short cat (JDM type); both headers will require it. :)

yup...wonderful ans...just the ans i need and was looking for. thanks mate. Most prob i'll do that n get a dyno done with both to compare.

Spoon discontinued their 4-1 header a long time ago.. their current design is almost a 4-1 but technically it's a 4-2-1 as it splits just before the collector in order to sit up nice anad high.

The Mugen 4-1's collector is like:
O O
O O

so it hangs 2 pipes (deep) under the sump..

some other headers have a squashed or staggered collector which is slightly better in terms of clearance:
O O
_O O

so it 'only' hangs about 1.5 pipes (deep) under the sump.

the test is bullshit anyway as they used a test pipe

dont worry about wht header you are going to get
also deide what cat you would get too

toda is good for street clearance and mid range top end
mugen is good for top end but not for clearance
