Hi guys, I was just wondering if anybody could help me.
I have just got given a set of OBX targa fully reclinable seats but am a bit sceptical of putting them in my car (06 civic)
as far as i know they exceed the ADR X/01 expectations but i am not sure if they comply to the ADR X/02?
if anybody could help much would be appriciated, if they dont then ill just sell them off or something.
btw ive looked on the net but cant really seem to find much on adr rules and what is actually allowed and what isnt but yeh
also what is the difference between adr 01 and 02? i know 02 is a revision but does that apply strictly to new cars? or old aswell?
Thanks!
Ryan

I have no ideas on the difference between the two ADR's but I was under the impression that a seat that has passed ADR's has a tag stitched onto it showing what regulations it has passed!?

either way even if the seats pass ADR you need to get them engineered.
Passing ADR means they can meet the standard. You still need to get the seat engineered to show it it has been fitted meeting ADR standards.
I think it would be best to speak with an engineer or ring the local RTA

i thought that could be avoided if you purchased ADR approved rails with your seats.....kinda like what Idealseat does with their recaros

the recaros you can get away with at times cos they were designed also for the ek9. SO long as you get the bolt on, you should be fine. Any other aftermarket seat was not designed for the car. It doesn't matter if they are ADR approved or not cos they car checking on how you have fitted them and thus you still need them to be engineered.
I looked into it a while ago

hey guys thanks for the replies,
sassy fit - i think i will just call dpi their website just seems to state something and not really go into any detail lol
limbo - i thought that you needed an eng cert here in wa, but i have been corrected by a few people (not sure if they know what they are talking about) and told that if they are fully reclinable non fixed seats then so long as they are adr approved it was ok? as in not a single position fixed bucket
either way dpi will be getting a call tomorrow *sigh* they always seem to put you on hold for 30 mins lol

when i asked the engineer he told me if it can recline i can engineer it.
If it was fixed it was an issue as i have a hatch back

Another thing to consider are airbags.. if your civic has side airbags in the seat then you need to make sure the new seats have airbags as well.
