Not sure wether this should go here or audio or noob forum, but just wondering where would be a good place to mount the tweeter as the door doesnt have any prebuilt spots for them.

If you have splits in the front could I get some pics of where you installed your tweeters.

Mine are in the little plastic triangles where the side mirrors mount. No idea if a DC2 has the same triangles though - they fit perfectly!

I have mine like that too but I don't think it's the optimal position though.
They really need to face the listener to sound better.
I find the imaging not so good with this set up.

I have tried other positions too, as the original sound system the guy before me had was crap... this is the best set up. Had it all installed and tuned by Metrosound in Artamon. They really do build some quality stereo's. Majority of their customer cars are Ferrari's, Lambo's, Bentleys, Aston Martins, and Roles'. They are quite Exxy though.

Hutch is a good man, been a family friend for a very long time, you cannot go past their experience, quality and knowledge... the extra money spent gives you peace of mind you are getting the best for your dollar... but everyone has different circumstances.

He put mine at the corners of the dash just under the windscreen... that is, he said, the optimal position for staging. It doesn't look very good, especially since my AVI's are HUGE, but the sound is right

Are they just mounted on top of the dash on actually in it?

fair enough, my placement is the easiest way to do it, just some silicon and run the cables down down the side of the dash

My door trims dont have the tweeter bit built in though.

does anyone run tweeters in the rear? is there a purpose or a performance gain?

solitz

tweeters in the split speaker systems is designed to improve the soundstage by allowing the higher frequencies to be projected towards the point of where the sound will be heard (so your ears) thats all.

in the rears its more better if coaxials are run instead of the tweeters unless u carry lots of passengers

lukey ur trims dont have it built in but when u take the trim off the door u will see there is a template for the tweeter design to sit in the door handle i know i saw it when i replaced a door trim b4 i did my 1st stage of install

btw for reference i have my tweeters on the trangles where the power mirrors are

i had them on the triangles in my old N13 pulsar, and i had AVI's then too, and on an angled mount, even with them angle really the sound wave was not in such a position where you would hear all of it... they were essentiallyaiming at the center area between the driver and passenger seat, pretty much above the gear stick... so itt wasnt ideal...

But then my musical tastes were a bit different then, and it meant you'd hear mad tweetage outside the car which was the style at the time LOL

I find where they are now it rebounds off the windscreen, and it is now a much higher spec 1inch tweeter so it provides a lot more detail in sound... i'm pretty pleased

When aiming to achieve the best stage we often make fibreglass A-pillars to hold tweeters. You tend to get the best sound from that location so if you're good with your hands why not have a go?

wow those mid basses on the pillar look amazing, must really ad a "fullness" to the stage... must take a lot of tuning to make it "smooth" as that setup could be quite bright couldnt it?

Just a question, they are fairly angled out towards the windscreen, is that to get the rebound effect from the glass?

My old AVI's were very bright, but harsh... the new ones are really much sweetest and detailed rather than bright... but then you can get them bright with the EQ, like you said it's all up to the individuals ear :-)
