Hey everybody,

I have been trying to do a search on the net and on the forums for places that sell off the shelf exhaust systems for my 08 FD2. Has anybody done a catback or a system all the way to the headers for an FD2? Will an exhaust for an FD1 fit on an FD2?

I'm not 100% sure but my friend has a fd2 and is using my fd1 exhaust that I was originally going to put on my car. Hope that helps :)

from what i know the FD1 uses an R18 engine and the FD2 uses a K20 engine. i don't think the exhausts can be exchanged

Isn't the FD2 the type R??

If it is you won't be able to interchange the exhausts as espionage84 mentioned above..

Chasis between the FD1 and FD2R are the same except for reinforcements for better handling, but since the engines are completely differnt, I don't think they will be compatable. Maybe the catback may fit, but not the header

it would be a matter of getting the exhaust custom built. Thats what i have done. I got a magnaflow muffler and outlets to make the car still look quite standard but with bigger twin outlets as i have a civic sport and then the rest of the exhaust was custom Stainless steel mandrel bend.
I'm not sure if i'm right in saying this but anyone can correct me if i'm wrong. From what i have heard the US civic's have the same exhausts us the OZ model so if this is the case magnaflow have full exhaust cat back systems available.

The Si would be the same as the OZ civic sport and the LX/DX would be the same as our VTI and VTI-L.

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=SPCT&id=3578 (for Civic Sport - civic Si equivalent)
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=SPCT&id=3574 (for civic VTI & VTI-L - civic LX/DX equivalent)

This is the muffler i got:

Yeah thats what I thought that the US Civic Si was equivelant to our Civic Sport as they are both 2L and there LX/DX is 1.8L.
Unfortunately I think when I posted that bit of info, somebody told me that th engine bay was a little different as when i made the comparison I was looking for air intakes for my civic sport auto

Thanks for those links though, i like the muffler you chose. I'm looking at a similar twin pipe as i like the look of the twin pipe on the civic rather than one massive muffler, the twin pipe suites teh car more and less looking aftermarket

Yeah i reckon i will just be cheap and get the muffler or just wait for a bit and see what off the shelf options there are. I'm going to check out those brands you gave me

fd1/fd2/fd3/fd4 and fd2r chassis are different. fd2r's chassis is lighter yet stronger/stiffer than the others

u guys seen this?

http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/bolt-ons-all-motor/80782-skunk2-60mm-cat-back-exhaust-installed-2006-csx.html

he put the skunk2 60mm catback on his csx which looks exactly the same as the civics here but not sure spec wise etc etc.

oh yea but he had to extend one on the pipes by like 2 inches cos it was meant for the usdm si

FD1 is R18, FD2 is K20. Make sure which one you are after. I dont think you own a FD2 in Australia.

The AUDM Civic Sport has the K20Z3 engine, although the Acura CSX has two versions, the normal version that has the K20Z2 and the "Type-S" that has the K20Z3. Essentially we share the same engine with the US but the body is shorter than ours.

+ Ours is more sexy :D

Currently, i have a 2010 AUDM Civic Sport, has a K20Z2. if it was a Z3 itd make life a lot easier when looking for exhaust and other aftermarket stuff.
