Hi all,

Forgive my noobness but...

I'm trying to install a front strut bar to my 2000 EK Cxi. I was able to remove 3 of the 4 nuts from the suspension strut, but cannot remove the 4th.

It won't budge even after spraying WD-40 on it, it is now burred & rounded off.

Help!!! How can I remove this nut?

Umm.. first off you shouldnt have keep trying and trying until it rounded off ( to late now).....um.... if it wasnt rounded off i suppose you could have used anti-lock freeze stuff.....wd-40 isnt really that great and penetrating and releasing bolts...

EDIT: sorry forgot about answering how to help.. this happened to me once.... and i had to use my neighbours air pressured gunto get it off.....but then agn i didnt round it off that much

If you have room use vice grips.
If no room use an old socket and hammer it onto the nut and remove.
Then buy a replacement nut.

I'd try using a proper socket on it with a long bar. If you've rounded it too much your gonna have to get some vice grips and try to get them off

if all else fails... you can use a hacksaw blade to get it off...

then get a replacement nut. itll take a while to get it off though.

just make sure you don't cut the thread or your in more trouble.

this is true LOL... i geuss its something i would do as a LAST resort. I burred the nut on my towbar (yes the previous owner had a towbar on a DA), and hacksawed it off... I bought a replacement bolt though.

and while ur at it, go get yourself some single hex sockets rather than the multi hex.

for all car suspension work now, i ONLY use single hex sockets. they're really hard to find - and i could only find them in the bargain bin at bunnings at a dollar each. So i picked up 10, 12, 14, 17 mm. Makes my $100 a set sidchrome ones obsolete.

Just take it somewhere, they will have the tools to fix it up and it won't/shouldn't cost much at all.

I always get these type of issues,my local muffler guy fixes up my mistakes for like 10-20 buxs :)

any exhaust or brake shop should be able to fix it for you =)
